Msw media. Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Monday, July 6, 2026. Today. Today, the United States warned Iran about Israel's aims to assassinate Iran's top negotiators. Trump's Department of Energy deleted over 6,000 web pages dedicated to energy savings after Mayor Mamdani asked New Yorkers to keep their thermostats at 78 degrees. The owner of a dog shot by the LAPD has sued the city. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum has defended the Patriot Front white nationalist march in D.C. on the 4th of July. Elaine Chao left the country just three days after her husband Mitch McConnell, was found unconscious. And nearly a million investors lost over $3.8 billion on Trump crypto coin. I'm Alison Gill.
And I'm Dana Goldberg.
Yeah. Interesting weekend in the news, huh? Huh?
Yeah, very much. And I just listen that whole. Elaine Chao left the country three days after her husband, Mitch McConnell, was found unconscious. I'm just like, was it Mrs. M. Chao in the library with the candlestick? Like, I know Appare had a heart attack, from what I understand. maybe that's. I don't know if you saw the same.
Administering cpr.
Yeah, yeah. And she peaced out, man. I tell you what, he has, done a lot of damage to this country, and I think his wife has laid a lot of money off that damage. So. Yeah, and by his wife, I mean them together, of course. Yeah.
Ah, she was Secretary of Transportation in Trump's first term.
Yeah. Yep, yep, yep.
So, yeah, you know, we don't know why she peaced out. We'll go over the story in a bit.
But, yeah, I just want to say, and I think you, as an empathic person would say this, because I know we get snarky on this podcast, and we're comedians. This is what we do. And oftentimes we say our inside thoughts out loud, no matter who dies. And I will say this, my heart goes out to their family. My heart does not go out to this country. So the people that loved Mitch McConnell, if and when he passes, I have sympathy for them. I have no empathy for them, and I have no empathy for this country. Meaning I have no sympathy for the loss of Mitch McConnell to this country. That's just how I feel. But I do feel for his family. Somebody loved that man. Somebody's hurting. I think he was horrible for the country, so I'm just gonna put that out there.
Yeah, agreed. I agree 100%, my friend. Many would say he's the reason we are in the situation, that we're in. Because he failed to convict and remove Donald Trump after his impeachment for January 6th and the impeach, the Zelensky shakedown. And he also blocked Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland. We could have had a very different scenario. Number one, if Merrick Garland were put on the Supreme Court. Number two, if he weren't the Attorney General of the United States. There are many, many things that can be attributed to Mitch McConnell. Stacking the court, packing the court, which we need to unpack, which is part of this midterm election, is part of that plan. And that plan is growing. Many folks, many people are bigly saying with tears in their eyes to me, Alison, we need to add seats to the Supreme Court. We have to. A lot of Democrats are now backing this, which was once kind of a fringe thing. I mean, Biden and Harris backed term limits and senior status. They put together a court commission. They wanted better ethics rules, but they never really materialized with any kind of teeth or anyone, who would uphold it. I think we need to move the U.S. marshals into the judicial branch so that if somebody disobeys a court order, it's not up to the Attorney General to send out the marshals after them. It's up to the courts. Anyway. There's so many things that. That have gone wrong because of Mitch McConnell. But, yes, being the empathic people we are, I don't like it when people are sad. But I'm not sad for him. Okay. There's a new episode of unjustified out. Andy McCabe is funny man. He is so funny. Like, more and more, we're laughing through these episodes because if we don't, we'll cry.
I love that.
Yeah, so we talk about that. Particularly the hilarity of the Justice Department sending copies of volume two of Jack Smith's report to the woman's lawyers who they indicted for emailing copies of Jack Smith's final report.
That's just.
I can't write that. I am a pretty good comedic writer.
Uh-huh.
You couldn't write. If that came up in any writer's room across the United States, you would be laughed out of a job. there's also a new episode of the Breakdown with me and Katie Fang, where I got some breaking news from Katie that if Judge Emmett Sullivan doesn't sue Espante on his own, ask for a show. Cause maybe contempt hearings for Todd. Blanche failing to follow his court order to hand over certain elements of the Epstein files or explain why he didn't. That, Katie's legal team is probably working on that kind of emotion. So fantastic. You can watch all of that on the breakdown. Also, the July 4th celebration on the National Mall was plagued by severe weather. And in irony of all ironies. And we're going to show clips of this and the weather and all the stuff. Over on the Beans Talk, the MAGA crowd had to shelter in place at the Museum of African American History.
Yes, they did. Yes, they did. And it's probably the first time any of them have ever been that close to a black person. Yeah, I was like, could you read
some of the stuff while you're in there?
Just the history. You can skip the Ben Carson stuff. Listen, I know, I know that he was historic in his right for what he did medically. Maybe that's also arguably. But also arguably. He slept through most of his tenure with the Trump term and he was, he's. He should have stayed in his lane. And I know that I hate when people say that he was maybe a very good, you know, doctor surgeon. He wasn't very good at whatever he did. I don't even remember the position they put him in. Oh, man.
So check out Beans Talk today. You don't want to miss that. I've got also a stroll down memory lane where you'll get to see a photo of me at the ripe old age of 28.
Lovely.
Looking forward to that. Also, our election night watch party, MSW Media Media election night watch party this Tuesday, November 3rd. It's going to be an invite to our patrons. So, yeah, thank you very much, everybody. All right, we have a ton of news to get to we haven't even cracked the news yet, my friend. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot notes all right, first up from the Verge, if you want information about saving energy during a massively unpleasant heat wave, the United States Department of Energy doesn't seem willing to help. The Verge and others reported that the Department of Energy conducted a broad, sweeping purge of roughly 6,000 pages on its website related to energy conservation this week. While no one in the federal government has provided definitive confirmation on why this happened, the deletions came shortly after New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani did the unthinkable. He shared an advisory on social media urging New Yorkers to set their indoor air conditioners to 78 degrees in the middle of a heat wave. Conservative accounts immediately pounced on Mamdani's post accusing the mayor of spreading the horrors of communism by asking people to keep their homes at a moderate temperature during a weekend in which New York City reached triple digit temperatures. However, many quickly pointed out that the Department of Energy's official stance is the same as Mamdani's. It said, keep your thing at 78 degrees. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, had also shared identical guidance in the past during heat waves. Now, ah. Within 24 hours or so of Mamdani's announcement, eagle eyed Internet users noticed that the Department of Energy had deleted its own web pages, espousing the same advice again. No one knows for certain why these web pages were deleted at the precise times they were, but the timing is suspect and given the Trump administration's previous actions, it's not unreasonable to assume it was done out of pettiness.
Yep, I have no doubt this one's from ABC7 in Los Angeles. A content warning, by the way, for harm to an animal, which is probably going to piss off more people than some of these other stories we tell. The owner of a dog who was shot and killed by LAPD officers in Canoga park is now suing the city of Los Angeles. The lawsuit filed Thursday alleges that the officer involved in the incident broke department policy governing the use of force against animals. It stems from a shooting on June 13 at an apartment complex. And by the way, I saw this video. Do not watch this video if you have any love for animals or anything at all. Police responded to reports of screaming coming from a residence there, but the situation ended in tragedy when officers shot and killed a golden retriever poodle mix named Jameson. The dog's owner, identified as Marie, has been celebrating the New York Knicks championship win, according to witnesses. Police say the dog rushed toward officers and attacked them, but the family says he was just excited. And if, you know, golden retrievers, there's a good chance that account is right. The lawsuit claims that officers are authorized to use force against an animal and I quote, only when the animal poses an immediate threat of injury under LAPD policy and that officers are supposed to receive training to determine that. The lawsuit alleges that if the officer who opened fire did receive such training, it was not applied in the situation. Last month, police released body camera footage of the incident, which has sparked outcry from activists and animal advocates. Jameson's owner is seeking unspecified damages and I hope she gets every penny of it.
Me too. Me too. And I have not watched the video for. For that very reason.
Do not.
I can't even watch movies where dogs get hurt.
Honestly, it was. I didn't seek it out. It came across my damn Instagram. You know how the videos just play. Yeah. And I was like, what's going on here? Yeah.
Yep, yep, yep, yep. Yeah. I hope they get every penny.
I know you can turn that function off, but yeah, it's true.
All right, from the post. Senior US Officials feared that Israel intended to assassinate Iran's top negotiators as the pursued a high stakes deal to end the war there and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That's according to current and former officials familiar with the matter. This blows my mind and I'm just, I, I haven't seen Maga freaking out about the US Helping Iran against Israel in this particular case, which I would in any on earth one expect them to do, but I haven't seen it. Washington's objection to killing Abbas Arachi, Iran's foreign minister, and Mohammed Baghir Golubov, that's the country's parliamentary speaker, was so acute. Washington's objection was so acute that in this spring they took the extraordinary step of asking intermediaries to warn Iran about Israel's assassination aims, according to officials. As far back as March, when the Trump administration began to explore diplomatic options for ending the war, which they started, US Officials told Israeli counterparts not to continue killing Iran's political leadership, according to a diplomat. That U.S. officials felt the need to take the additional step and warn Iran that its top negotiators could be killed demonstrates the strain in the U. S. Israel relationship and the Trump administration's limited influence over the Israeli government. Quote, it shows the divergence of war aims between the US And Israel and the fundamental determination on the part of Israel's prime minister to undermine any Negotiation that the US might conclude. That's what Aaron David Miller said. Former State Department official who has advised Republican and Democratic administrations. When the United States and Israel started the Iran war on February 28, Israel assassinated scores of Iranian political and military leaders, including Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah, Ali Khamenei, while the US military focused on degrading Iran's navy and missile capabilities. At first the two allies shared the goal of regime change in Iran. But they quickly decoupled as US officials assessed that Tehran's military and clerical establishment would maintain their grip on power. Who could have seen it coming? More cracks emerged after Israel assassinated Iran's top national security official, that's Ali Larajani. And that happened in mid March. Golubov was among the senior Iranian officials present in a building struck by Israel in last year's 12 Day War. Middle Eastern media citing Iran's semi official Fars News agency reported. The New York Times reported that he was nearly killed this year as well when Israel targeted a meeting of senior Iranian officials in an underground bunker. Now, the attempted killings of Golubov, Iran's new supreme leader, Mojt Haba Khamenei and other senior Iranian officials have raised concerns in the US and the Middle east that the war may have installed a more ruthless regime with a score to settle in place of an elderly leader whose hold on power was believed to be slipping.
Thank you, my friend. This one's from the Times. An up to date tally of Trump followers turned crypto investors is in. And for them, the overall results are remarkably bad. No. Nearly 1 million people who bought President Trump's meme coin have lost money through the end of June. Shocking. That's according to a report by the cryptocurrency analytics firm Nansen. Their loss totals $3.81 billion. The analytics firm's assessment was calculated this week after Donald signed an annual financial disclosure showing that he walked away with a $636 million on the same crypto bet, part of a U haul of at least 2.2 billion from all of his business ventures in 2025.
I love how it's just a haul, but you. You decided to call it a U haul.
Did I really? Lesbian to the core, people. That's hysterical. I didn't even notice. We're not editing it. Let's keep moving. I love it so much. The odds were always in his favor. The odds. Wow. That sounds like the Hunger Games that he's having for these kids. Across the country, Mr. Trump profited whether the price of his Meme coin went up or not. Apparently he collected returns whenever anyone traded the coins, as he repeatedly pushes followers to do so, using his True Social account to promote the coin. Didn't matter if it went up or down.
It's just. It's trading places, right?
Unbelievable, man.
Like, we buy or sell their stocks for them.
Does that, matter?
But no matter what happens, Duke and Duke get the commission, and he sounds to me like y' all a couple of bookies.
That's exactly what that sounds like. Now, most crypto transactions are publicly visible, recorded on a digital ledger called the blockchain that allows analysts to trace purchases of digital coins from individual crypto accounts known as wallets. Nansen's data shows that as of end of June, 988,905 buyers. So close to that million of the strump. That's what they call it because there's a money sign of the Trump Meme coin, have lost money. Money representing roughly two out of every three buyers. Cumulatively, these 988,905 wallets have lost a total of 3.81 billion, including buyers who have held onto their stash and recorded paper losses, according to Nansen. So the core the coin was trading at $1.76 a dollar and 76 cents as of Friday, down 97% from its peak price of $75.35.
Y' all got taken for a ride. But are you reading some of these Trump supporters, Trump Meme Coin purchasers who blame the liberals for this, how they're like, oh, you know, just like they blamed us on the weather on the mall and I guess. I don't know.
Well, Jews do control the weather, and I really.
Did you? Yeah. I was wondering if you brought out your space laser.
I did. I was like, fuck this for this
and the Meme Coin. But they're like, yeah, we don't blame Trump. We blame liberals. They're trying to tank it. They bought short, right? Like, we bet against it.
Like, oh, my God.
Yeah, that's what I was doing on my summer vacation. I was buying troops. Trump Meme Coin short to screw you over, you weird maga. Just fuck. How much money does this man have to steal from you?
I know.
Before you get it, I don't know.
I mean, they're losing their life savings, and all of them keep wanting a piece of it. It's bizarre. Yeah.
And keep an eye on Guo Wengwe. Remember the guy who had a big yacht when Steve Bannon was arrested? On his yacht by the post office cops. That guy was actually sentenced to 30 years in prison for stealing billions from people, millions, hundreds of million from investors in a scheme. And right now the going price for a pardon from Donald Trump is about $2 million. And that's according to reports. I'm not just making that up. And so we could see Guo Wang Wei get a pardon. He's considering pardoning Diddy.
Oh boy.
It's just, it's $2 million for a pardon.
Disgusting.
And there are people getting all their kickbacks and stuff. So well done. Meme coin investors. All right, here's that story about Mitch M. McConnell's wife. It's from Raw Story. The wife of Senator McConnell did something, quote, bizarre three days after he was hospitalized for a possible heart attack, according to a new report. Elaine Chao, Transportation secretary during Trump's first administration and McConnell's wife since 1993, left the country. And that's according just so you know, to the Daily Beast. Okay. Now Chao flew to Beijing to discuss China US relations with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on June 17, according to the Daily Beast and Chinese media. This was three days after McConnell, 84, was reportedly found unconscious and rushed from his home in Washington to the hospital where he stays where he's been. A dispatcher sent an advanced life support ambulance to McConnell's home on June 14th. According to audio released by journalist Desiree Townsend. McConnell spokesperson confirmed that day that the former Senate GOP leader had been hospitalized. On June 22. In a statement, McConnell, his staff said he was working closely with his staff on Senate and Kentucky business. A McConnell team member said on June 30 that he was still recovering. This was McConnell's second hospitalization since February when he received treatment for flu like symptoms. And McConnell, who has announced his retirement at the end of this year, has faced repeated health scares. The Kentucky Republican was hospitalized with a concussion after falling in 2023. And if you are unconscious, if you are on life support.
The people should know that a hundred percent.
Or if you're Tom Kane and you're in a hospital for depression for four months.
Absolutely. We have a right to know that people actually do work for us.
I know they don't think they do, but they do.
They voted against paid vacation, but they don't mind taking them.
I know. All right, this is from Ms. Now Interior Secretary Doug Burgum on Sunday defended an Independence Day demonstration in Washington by hundreds of masked men chanting Reclaim America. Wearing the same uniform, white face coverings, baseball caps, dark Shirts and khakis. Gap was like, those aren't ours. As that was of, the white nationalist group Patriot Front. They marched near the US Capitol carrying a variety of flags, including Confederate flags. Some featured a circle, 13 white stars to represent the first American colonies. And I quote, what they stand for is nothing that I could possibly agree with. This is Burgum, he said during the interview at cnn. But one of the foundational principles of the United States, which makes democracy messy, is free speech. Goes on to say, there are plenty of things that I see that I might personally find offensive, reprehensible, but in America, free speech is allowed. That's what he said before comparing a public display of racial supremacy to communism. Echoing President Trump's midterm election season attacks on the Democratic Party's insurgency of democratic socialist candidates, Burgum said, and I quote, I mean, we're a country where someone can run and be elected saying that they're a communist, but yet this is what our nation has stood against and fought for.
Okay, first of all, no one ran
and said they were fucking communists, by the way.
Right. And you're saying that the Patriot Front is a display of communism, but so are the people who protest them. Like, who. Who are the communists? Is it Patriot Front? Because.
Okay, but I can't square that circle. That's why I'm like, yeah, I
can't square that horseshoe.
Right, yeah. The Interior Department secretary who oversaw Trump branded celebrations of the nation's 250th anniversary didn't directly answer when host Dana Bash asked if he would recommend to Trump that the president condemned the white nationalist group and its messaging. There's no way we've been here before.
He'd lose his only voters.
I know. Part of my response to that is that there are protests on the mall, that people say things that I think are reprehensible about Trump, and yet they're allowed to go on because of free speech in our country. Again, this is berger.
Except your DOJ tried to get them to take down their 8647 flag display, and they lost in court. So which speech is okay?
Right. And apparently corporations are people, and they're allowed to say whatever they want with money. So what are we doing here? The Southern Poverty Law center, among other civil rights groups, labels Patriot Front a white nationalist hate group that broke off from Vanguard America in the aftermath of the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. And that was in August 12th of 2017. According to its public writings, Patriot Front believes that. And I quote, to be an American is to be a descendant of conquerors, pioneers, visionaries and explorers that this country was founded on principles of pan European identity. Now, Rep. Al Green, a black Democrat from Texas, told Ms. Now on Sunday that he wants such hate groups too. And they, quote, have their free speech. He said, let them march and let people see that this level of racism and hate still exists and that the Klan is only metamorphosed. Now this is from Green. That's what he said on the weekend with three incredible hosts. Greene said he has enough faith in the country to, and I quote, think that most people don't approve of people who would parade with a mask on to disguise themselves while shouting something that's associated with white supremacy. I don't think people will agree with that.
Yeah. All right, thanks to, Al Green for those statements and thanks to Ms. now for that story. Thanks for sharing it, Dana. Everybody, we have good news that we have to get to. Thank the Lord. First up is your Good Trouble. You're good Trouble. Today Trump is trying to break the Institute of Museum and Library Services. A lot of local libraries and museums depend on the subsidies that the IM MLS provide. Go to action.ala.org to see what the American Library association needs you to do to help fight for public libraries. We're going to have a link in the show notes for that. Also, a quick reminder, everyone, our next Patreon Zoom call will be Thursday, July 9th. That's this Thursday at 5pm Pacific time. So we're looking forward to that. Look for the Zoom link in your inbox or post it on the Patreon site at noon Pacific on July 9th. That's when we're gonna post it and send it out five hours before we hang out. Nice.
And next, from landlocked sailor from Denver [Riggleman. I know exactly who this is. I joined my first Zoom in Dana's dugout a few days ago. What a great community of people. There were 11 of us and three of us were veterans. I look forward to joining you again. Thanks, Dana. And I just wanna say, as I'm building my Patreon. If you wanna become a Patreon member, where you do get to Zoom, it starts at the $5 level. When I tell you that everyone in that Zoom shared things, and we all got to talk. It was like group therapy, Alison. It was like we shared our rose, our thorn, our bud, what we wanted. Because the group hasn't grown yet to a point where we can't. So right now is the time to get on on this. So if you want to become a member of my Patreon at all, you can go to danagoldberg.com and hit the Patreon. But if you start at a five dollar level, you get to join these Zooms, and you get early tickets to shows just like Allison's. You get, behind the scenes stuff. You just get all kinds of stuff that is super fun, but one of them is this Zoom. And it felt like we were just in our living, talking with friends because it was such a sweet community. So I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, landlocked sailor, and thank you for your service.
And look at these puppies.
I know.
Oh, my God, that corgi is. I want to sleep that soundly, if I may.
Oh, my God.
Thank you so much. All right, from Ed. Pronouns he and Hm. Him. Dear queens of the beans, greetings from Tuscany. Got out of Dodge for two weeks of R and R in Italy. I'm confident y' all can do the 250th without my help. And I know you don't have a travel correspondent for the Beans, but I thought I'd share with you a couple of good news photos if I have enough bandwidth and I'm not too full of wine. I'll try to send you some daily photos and hopefully lighten the load that you carry with such grace. We would love that, Ed. The photos are from the Tuscan villa where we're staying for this first leg of the journey. These hills and vineyards are breathtaking, and they remind me that amidst all this nonsense and noise, there is quiet, there is beauty, and there is peace. Wishing you all some welcome respite. I want to go to there.
Me too. Look at that vineyard, Ed.
Thank you. Just, that, like, looking at those photos just brings me peace.
I know Tuscany is one place in Italy that I haven't really explored, and I very much want to, Here we go. From Reese Pronoun. She and her. Hello, my favorite legumes. I'm writing to share some good news. Kelsey Fenler. I'm so glad you just sent this in. I was Just looking at a post became, the first American woman to row so low and unsupported from California to Hawaii.
What?
Yes. A total of 2,362 nautical miles. It took her 43 days, 17 hours, 55 minutes and 59 seconds. She landed on July 3 and beat the men's and women's record. Yep, she's a badass. For my pot pet tariff, I have attached a picture of my rescue dog, Lucy. She's a blank. I have also attached a picture of Buddy, who's a blank, and Toto, who's also a blank. we have a yorkie for sure.
Yeah.
We also have what appears to be a healer mix.
Yeah. Okay, so the one on the. On the boat.
Yeah.
Yeah. It looks like some sort of lab chihuahua, healer type sitch.
And then a terrier, I think, of some sort.
I think there's also Shih Tzu in that one. Look at that. Yeah, Maybe the little bun or a Maltese or something like that. Let's see what we got. We have a lab German shepherd, Australian cattle dog. Look so close. Heelers are like Australian cattle dogs.
There you go.
And labs.
Wow. Toto, I understand, is the yorkie. Okay, now I'm understanding. Witshitsu. We were right.
Poodle terrier and Chesapeake Bay retriever and schnauzer. What a cool mix.
And Toto's a yorkie. What kind of.
She rode by herself rowing for 43 days.
Yeah. You should see the, it's. I wish. Well, I'm going to send you this on in on our text message just so you can see it. The boat is decked out. It's got, some protection on each side. It's just, it's. It's incredible.
I mean, it's gotta be a small enough boat for her to row it. And it's gotta be a large enough boat to carry food and water for 43 days.
Absolutely. Here. I mean.
Cause she was unsupported. Right. They didn't. She didn't have anybody alongside her giving her food or anything. And.
Yeah, I just sent it to your text message. Look at the second. Look at this. Cause you'll be able to see. There may even be some sort of a bathroom in there, but I can't tell. It looks like it's solar powered.
Oh, there we go.
It's made by Guntner. Not that we're doing an advertisement for that, but just to let people know it's incredible. I guess it's considered a kayak.
So solar powered for like the. Maybe Cleaning desalinization or something. But she rode power the whole way, correct?
Yeah, she rode the entire thing.
Dang girl.
But I mean, there's probably solar power for. I'm assuming she needed to like, charge her equipment. She's filming this thing. It looks like there may be some sort of a drone she's using. Cause there's a buff shot. It's just frickin awesome.
Amazing. Congrats. Broke. Broke all the records. Women and men's. Well done. Yeah, thanks for sending that in. That is cool. All right, next up, anonymous pronouns, he and him. Hello, Queens of all beans. Oh. Oh. I didn't know I'd been promoted.

I'm a longtime listener. I'm so thankful for you both and the sanity you bring daily. I have a bit of good news to share. It's so difficult to muster a celebratory mood this Fourth of July. Totally. So the Onion has come to our rescue with the mockumentary called the Birth of a Nation. Yes, I have a part in the film. I play historian Roger Andrews. I'm the one in the trailer making the explosion sounds with the tagline, it was sick. I've seen this. Oh my God. This is a beans listener.

My pod pet tariff. I'm attaching a picture of my dog, Simon. He's going to be 17 this month, so he's a cranky old man now. When he looks out the window and barks, he's literally saying, get off my lawn. I hope you get a chance to watch the movie and enjoy it. I have watched it. I also love the Infowars elf, which is also allowed to be distributed. And that, what's the. Alex Jones popped in his car. That was amazing.
So good.
I love what they're doing with it. I'm so glad they took it over from those assholes. We'll have a link to the trailer and the full length video in the episode notes. By the way, America, Birth of a Nation. And that.
