I'm going to talk to John Fugle saying, because it's Feiglsang Fridays, and I have the latest on the Todd Blanche nomination as we're recording this in the afternoon of Thursday, July 30, still no deal. The vote to confirm in committee, not the full Senate to confirm Todd Blanche has been postponed and there still isn't a deal. They had a meeting again today. They did Wednesday morning, and they had another meeting Thursday afternoon, and they made progress, but they still don't have a deal. And I, I wish I knew more about what Cornyn was asking for, because this is a rescission of the slush fund and the tax immunity. There's no. What are you editing?
Yeah.
Shouldn't it just be. It's like, you know, you either have a slush fund in tax immunity or you do not.
Yeah. It's not like you have to come up with language. The language is very clear.
I mean, as we said it anyway, and we know we've talked about this a lot. Todd Blanche has written thousands and thousands and thousands of words and hundreds of pages in order to not write two sentences to rescind this thing.
Yeah.
And so, you know, John Cornyn's like, well, you know, he keeps saying it's dead, but, boy, he sure won't put this in writing. And I haven't dropped my lawsuit yet. So.
It's wild though, that Cornyn, his line is, you know, this, that the tax immunity. And it's not Epstein. I mean, it's just. It really shows you who somebody is. Yeah.
And that's what we were. You know, when I was in D.C. the last few days, I took a last minute trip to D.C. for the Trump Epstein Bookmobile, which is defiance.org, which you can join for free for a few months@diance.org beans and then what's cool is it's a pay what you feel like paying model. After that, it's like. And all they use all the money to create, like, this, for example, this bookmobile, which is gonna go all around the country so that people, people in cities across the country can hear from survivors, which will also be on tour with this truck, but also experience what some people got to experience in that New York City reading room pop up. And they had one in downtown D.C. as well. But he's putting it on the road in the form of a bookmobile. And Senator Ron Wyden came up and spoke, but the whole message was, do not confirm Todd Blanche. He has done these survivors so dirty was condescending to them in that meeting. And the fact that, yeah, the slush fund sucks, but that's your sticking point on Todd Blanche.

Yeah.
And there are still Republicans through and through.
Yes, they are. And always, forever will be. All right, everybody, we have a lot of news to get to today. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot, notes. All right, first up, I'm just gonna wing this because I just finished reading Todd Blanche's and Stanley Woodward's submission to Judge M. Emmett Sullivan in Katie Fang's lawsuit and to get behind a couple of the redaction bars in the Epstein files. As you know, Katie is suing for all the files, but she filed a separate motion for about 10 documents and very certain redactions where she. We know what's under those redaction boxes is not. They're not supposed to be redacted under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. And so Judge Emmett Sullivan was like, all right, DOJ. Todd Blanche, by Thursday, July 30, which was oddly the day he was supposed to be voted on by committee to become the Attorney General. He's like, I need you to produce these to me in my chambers in secret, unredacted, so I can check to make sure you're not full of shit, basically. And Todd Blanche has filed his notice of compliance with the court saying we've turned him in. and again explaining why these things were redacted. And let me just read this to you because he's. Dana, he's expanded the definition of victim. You know, like we have to redact victims names.
Yeah, sorry. I realized that we're on a podcast and people couldn't see the look on my face just now going, what?
Yeah, he expanded the definition of the word victim. The department is not limiting its redactions to victims of these charged offenses for purposes of this review and relevant redactions. Victims include individuals identified as victims or potential victims through the department's prior prosecutions of Epstein and Maxwell, as well as all individuals who have directly or through their lawyers been identified as victims, including self identified victims to the department as potential victims of state or federal offenses in other claims of sexual exploitation or misconduct by Epstein or Maxwell. So they could be victims of other federal offenses in other jurisdictions and just declare themselves a victim. Like, you know, I think of Groff. Right? Like the secretary who procured these women for the massages.
Yeah.
You know, I mean, it might as well just have Ghislaine Maxwell call herself a victim cuz she was at one point groomed by Epstein. You know what I mean? So you can just declare yourself a victim. And then he also is using the Privacy act to redact emails from perpetrators, particularly in this case, two emails. One about a torture video of a minor and one that mentions a, sexual pervert. Like hey, sexual pervert, blah blah, blah, about a young woman. And they're redacting the to and from email addresses saying privacy, we can't release their private. Their private information. That's not allowed under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. And neither are the fact that in just these 10 documents. So they've retracted two email names, several other people who were defined as victims, and then a law enforcement officer, which you can't redact under the Epstein Files Transparency act. And an assistant U.S. attorney, which you cannot redact under the Epstein Files Transparency act. So like 40% of these redactions are improper.
Right.
And this is just 10 documents.
Good Lord.
So I think this is enough to support a special master. If I'M Judge Sullivan. I'm like, totally. You lack candor, bro. You inappropriately redacted this shit pursuant to the act. That means I gotta check all the files, which means I gotta appoint a special master because there's 6 million pages. Yeah.
Ah, yeah.
So some big call up Barbara Jones, retired judge Barbara, she's done so much. Think of the shit she's seen. She was the special master when they confiscated and seized a bunch of Rudy Giuliani stuff. She was the special master in the Michael Cohen case. She was the special master fiduciary babysitter for the Trump Organization. When the New York Attorney General's office had to appoint somebody after they.
I mean, listen, that book is going to be fire because, you know, I mean, I still think at least she's doing her job while she's in her position. And I don't think she's holding all these cards, you know what I mean? But, man, she's a retired judge.
She's just brought on to be special master in these things.
Right, but there's got to be something I don't want to say some statue where, as long as, you know, for a certain amount of years after your special Master, you're not allowed to talk about these things publicly. But I don't know.
Yeah, I doubt she would. That's probably why they keep hiring her as a Special Master.
That's true, that's true.
But, yeah, somebody call it Barbara Jones anyway that. You know, I am currently asking everyone to call their senators. All the senators, they don't have to be on the Judiciary Committee because the full Senate. If this vote gets out of committee, the full Senate will have to vote to confirm Todd Blanche and tell them to vote no. Or at least wait until we get something from, Judge Sullivan. In this case, there could be a bombshell ruling that Todd Blanche lacked candor and inappropriately redacted the Epstein files. And now a special master has to go through all of them because he is a pile of shit. Again, there's many other reasons to not vote for Todd Blanche, but I would want to wait and see what's behind those redaction bars and what Judge, Sullivan has to say. But I'm going to talk to Katie about this. This is her lawsuit. Katie Fang.

I, I bet she does. All right, Allison, Next up from Politico, the appeals court dam is breaking. It's breaking against ICE's unprecedented mass detention policy. Two federal appeals courts on Thursday shot down the Trump administration's bid to subject millions of immigrants, most of whom have lived in the U. S for years without any criminal records, to mandatory detention without bond. In a pair of 2 to 1 decisions, the California based 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Illinois based 7th Circuit Court of Appeal found that the Trump administration had defied logic, really, that's shocking. And misconstrued decades old immigration laws to justify its expansive detention policy. Appeals courts have now split six, two against the administration as the issue hurtles toward the Supreme Court as we know where most likely we'll always end up. While the overwhelming majority of lower court judges have ruled against the administration as well. And this is a quote, we add but a few more drops of ink to the gallons already spilled. This is Judge Joshua Kohler, who's a Biden appointee. He wrote for the 7th Circuit majority, joined by Candice Jackson Akiwumi. Am I saying that right, Akiwumi?
I believe so.
Wonderful. And by the way, that's another Biden appointee. The ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, authored by Trump appointee Daniel Bress, is the most significant rejection yet of the Trump administration's unprecedented mass detention policy. It basically binds lower courts along a large swath of the southern border. And in states where thousands of ICE detainees are housed. Bress actually joined the Clinton appointee. Margaret McEwen found that the Trump administration had misconstrued decades old immigration laws to justify its expansive detention policy. The modern deportation system, which is adopted in 1996, it was meant to require detention only for those apprehended crossing the border or soon after. That's the majority rule. Those who have resided in the US for years, establishing families, livelihoods and routes, they could only be detained after being afforded a bond hearing, a chance to convince an immigration judge that they can live safely in their communities while their deportation proceedings play out. And another quote, the government's change in Policy has resulted in detained aliens filing thousands of habeas petitions and in federal courts across the country seeking bond hearings and possible release from detention. This is from Bress went on to say the implication of the government's position is that Congress in 1996 made a major change in the immigration laws by subjecting millions of unadmitted aliens present in the United States to mandatory detention, but that this change then went unnoticed and unheeded with the executive branch for the next three decades. We accordingly do not think that Congress in 1996 made such a large scale change to our established system of the immigration detention and the way that the government now contends. Now the ruling follow similar decisions in the Atlanta base 11 circuit, the New York based 2nd circuit, the Colorado based 10th circuit and the Cincinnati base 6th circuit. You two appeals courts, the 5th circuit and the 8th circuit, they have sided with the Trump administration. Now rulings are pending in three other circuits in addition to the 62 split among appeals courts. More than 460 federal judges have rejected the administration's approach in more than 10,000 cases, compared to 54 judges who have ah, backed the policy in about 1100 cases. The issue appears destined for the Supreme Court their consideration in the term. Now the justice department appealed its 6th Circuit defeat to the high court last month and the ACLU asked the justices to overturn the 5th Circuit's ruling shortly thereafter. So this is an uphill battle for them and it should be. There's so many judges, we're talking Republican and Democrat appointed judges, that saying this administration is intentionally misconstruing this law.
Yeah, and here's what Aaron Reichland Melnick had to say about this. He's the senior fellow at the American Immigration Council. He puts out great data. He's a really important. One of my key follows on social media so I can keep up with the latest. He says great news. Yet another court finds that ICE and the Department of Justice were wrong to declare that Congress secretly mandated detention for millions of non citizens in 1996, specifically anyone who entered unlawfully at some point in the past, no matter how long ago, and that no one noticed until now.
Oh my God.
you know, like right, I mean 1996, you're saying Congress secretly wanted it to be this way and nobody noticed it until this year, last year when you started doing it this way. Idiots. But you know, I don't have a drop ah of faith in the Supreme Court of what they will do on this issue. I mean we call them Kavanaugh stops for A reason.
Yeah, no kidding.
So thank you for that story and thanks to Politico, too. I know Kyle Cheney has been working on this a lot. next up from the Associated Press. Mandela Barnes dropped out of the Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor on Thursday, further shaking up a race less than two weeks before the Aug. 11 election. The former lieutenant governor made the announcement in a video posted on his Facebook page as Democratic Socialist Francesca Hong has garnered strong support from the liberal wing of the party. Barnes decision to drop out came a day after the release of a Marquette Law School poll of Wisconsin Democratic primary voters that found Hong was leading Barnes and the other candidates by a significant margin, although about one third of primary voters remain undecided, quote, it's become very clear who our nominee is going to be. Mandela Barnes said. Barnes is the third Democrat to withdraw from the race. Lt. Governor Sarah Rodriguez ended her run amid a campaign finance scandal two weeks ago. And former state Economic Development Director Missy Hughes dropped out in June after Rodriguez ended her campaign. Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley rejoined the race with the endorsement of Governor Tony Now Crowley made a direct plea to Barnes supporters to back him. Quote, there's a place for you, and what we're building is what he put on social media. And Evers told reporters Thursday that he was surprised by Mandela Barnes dropping out, Quote, but he needs to do what he needs to do. I don't know why he's getting out. I have to believe it's something relatively important. And I do want to interject here. In the middle of this story, I was sent something, that might have something to do with this. And it comes from Holly Otterbein, who's a reporter for Axios. Okay, so I want to, say, I just want to make that clear. But the quote here is from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The decision by Barnes came amid reporting by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about a 2025 state Democratic Party review into allegations that Mandela Barnes was taking advantage of his role in the party to have sexual encounters with young adult women. But again, I don't know the veracity of that, and I don't want to comment on it, but I just want to put it out there in case it becomes something later. You, know, I just want to make sure I'm getting all the sides of the story in here. Associated Press goes on to say that Evers said he stuck by his endorsement of Crowley, who worked closely with Evers and Republican lawmakers on a deal to increase funding for local communities. Evers chose to endorse him over Barnes, who served as his lieutenant governor in his first term. So that's interesting, right?

Ever said Crowley was the best candidate even if Mandala was in, so he didn't seems like he doesn't like him very much. Hong did not immediately return a text message seeking comment. Joel Brennan, a long shot candidate in the race, said it's unfortunate for voters that this primary has gotten more attention for chaos than the stakes of the election. Now, the shakeup comes after nearly 128,000 voters have already returned absentee ballots. And on the third day of in person early voting on Wednesday, a judge rejected a lawsuit supported by the Democratic Party seeking to allow voters who have already returned their absentee ballots to cancel them and vote again. Judges said no. The winner of the Democratic primary is expected to face U.S. rep. Tom Tiffany, who faces only nominal opposition in the Republican primary. Tiffany, who has the endorsement of Trump, did not immediately return a message seeking comment. Barnes ending his campaign comes after he benefited from other candidates dropping out of the Democratic primary race for Senate in 2020, 2022 to clear the field for him. He ended up losing by just under 27,000 votes that year to Ron Johnson.

All right. This is from the Independent. A popular brewery that promised free beer to its patrons upon the death of Donald Trump is having his alcohol permit revoked.
Now. We have reported so much on the Minocqua Brewing Company.
Yeah. The Wisconsin Department of Revenue is planning to shut down the Minocqua M Brewing Company by August 4th. That's according to a newsletter published Sunday by brewery owner Kirk Bangstadt, who described the business as, and I quote, the state's most progressive brewery. Bankstad, a liberal activist who often posts anti Trump messages on, the company's social media accounts, said he plans to fight against the decision tooth and nail after receiving a letter from state officials dated July 15 and asked readers to donate to the brewery's legal defense fund. This is a quote. We need all the money we can get to sue the Department of Revenue and state in business. This is from Bangstad, who said that in an email to the Independent. He said, as you can imagine, I'm not taking this lying down. That's what he wrote in a substack post. We're going to fight the State of Wisconsin tooth and nail, and once again they'll have to pry me out of my tap rooms before I stop selling beer to thirsty progressives who come to visit us. He went on to list each of the rules that the DOR's division of alcohol Beverages had claimed that the company had broken and explained why he believes the minor violations don't warrant the shutdown. The company has locations in Madison and Managua and has until August 4th to appeal the revocation, Wisconsin's DOR said in an email to the Independent and this is a quote, the Division of Alcohol Beverages is dedicated to the fair and consistent enforcement of alcohol beverages regulations in Wisconsin. The Division is required to follow and implement state law, including ensuring permit holders and licensees that they follow all applicable laws and regulations. The Division takes appropriate action when those laws are not followed. And another quote, we can confirm that the Department of Revenue has issued notice of a, brewer's permit revocation for two Minocqua Brewing Company locations and notice of an alcohol beverage warehouse permit revocation of one of the locations. The business has until August 4th to appeal and can operate during the appeal process. That's what the statement concluded as the agency carries out the investigation. Bankstad had shared his concerns that he might be getting pushed out of the business due to his vocal political views rather than the reported violations. And I quote, everyone reading this, Democrat or Republican, should recoil at the thought of a small and thriving business being destroyed by their state government over such small violations, especially a brewery in the state of Wisconsin. It comes after the brewery appeared to suggest on social media that it would give out free beer if Trump were to die, although the January 26 post did not include his name, as first reported by Fox News Digital. And this is a quote, free beer all day long the day he dies. That's what the Post said. Show us this post when it happens in a few months and we'll make it good on our promise. The post was later updated to clarify we meant the Madison Tap Room because that's open all year. If he dies in the summer, then it's going to be the Monoclo Tap Room. Oh my God. After shots were fired while Trump was present at the White House Correspondents Dinner in April, the brewery's Facebook said, and I quote, well, we almost got free Beer day. In a new substack post shared Wednesday, Bankstadt shared that he replied to Fox News Digital's request for comment with a similar joke, promising half off beers in the name of Mitch McConnell, who was recently hospitalized. Bangstad concluded this letter and I quote, together we'll get to the bottom of who's trying to put us out of business and silence our voice in Wisconsin one beer at a time.

It was just incredible. I mean, why would any journalist go to this thing? After the subpoenas of the New York Times reporters last week, that's what I
put on Blue Sky. I was like, wait a minute.
Satan's giving you a reason to drop out of this. But it's good. They, they went because they wanted to be in a room with Donald Trump. That's who was there.
Well, that's their cash cow, my friend. M. that's how they make their money.
Not a funny show. It was like Warner Herzog directing a Jackass movie. Folks, you don't need to watch this, really. Trust me.
Something else that's like, Herzog, directing a Jackass movie. The nomination of Todd Blanche to Attorney General falling apart at the seams. I mean, it's coming completely apart because, as we know, Cornyn and Tillis have said, unless you rescind or at least rewrite. And I'm still very curious as to how you could possibly rewrite Tax immun and rewrite a slush fund for insurrectionists to make it sound better. But this guy, Todd Blanch, has dedicated dozens, hundreds of pages and thousands of Words to avoid writing two sentences to rescind this slush fund and to rescind this tax immunity. And I honestly think the tax immunity was the goal in the first place. Oh, yeah, but they won't do it. They would rather have an acting Attorney general, which they can do for as long as they want under the Attorney General Succession act, than to have a confirmation just so that they can keep this slush fund and this tax immunity alive.
$8 billion of compensation for January 6th terrorists. And Blanche keeps saying, under oath, he said that this is dead. You have my word. You have my word. And John Cornyn's like, yeah, I want something a little more reliable than that. Because, you know, like Donald Trump's lawyer discovering his word isn't enough. Like, the Nigerian prince is asking you for proof of funds. But, while I'm watching this thing, it's just, I don't mean to be anti. But it's not like Tillis and Cornyn are doing this because they've suddenly become Profiles in Courage, Right? It's because they're leaving. The quickest way for a Republican senator to grow a backbone is to remove the possibility of another term in office. And wow. I mean, that's it. Like, these guys are leaving. Tillis had already said he was leaving. Cornyn was, running for reelection until Donald Trump decided to endorse the most disgusting guy since Judge Roy Moore of Ken Paxton. And so now these guys are essentially retired. And so it's like, it might seem like they're auditioning for Mr. Smith goes to Washington, but it's only because they're on their way out the door. They're like those employees who would, who would, you know, only give the honest exit interview because security is walking them through the parking lot like, oh, I hated working here. The boss was a dick. The whole place is. I mean, they're not resistance heroes, these guys, Tillis and Cornyn. God bless. They're doing the right thing. But they are smoke detectors that started beeping after the building had burned down. You know what I'm saying?
Speaks volumes to term limits, doesn't it?
Well, yeah, but it also speaks volumes to the fact that his hold on the GOP Senate is slipping before our eyes because these people are up for reelection. And now, like, John Theune is just ignoring his demand to nuke the filibuster. And Republicans aren't gonna do it because they know someday Democrats will have it. I mean, it's just sawing off the branch you're standing on, cuz somebody else is in the tree. Trump doesn't care. And then yesterday, I didn't see this coming, but the Senate approved, without objection, Dr. Gill, this preemptive resolution opposing any pardon for Todd Blanche's bff, G. Lane Maxwell. Without objection, Unanimous consent. when, when do they agree on everything? These guys can't agree.
The last time they did was on the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
What does that tell you? The Republicans still fear Trump, but they fear campaign ads about Jeffrey Epstein in October a little bit more.
Yeah. Do you think it's a big issue? Gosh, I wonder. I mean, if it's enough for to be the first off ramp of thousands for some of these guys, then yeah, maybe. And it is interesting too, Cornyn and Tillis. It's the slush fund. Right. Which caused the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary to be like, well, we have an issue with these New York Times reporter subpoenas. We should probably talk about that. And then that doesn't even mention which, hardly any of it was brought up in his confirmation hearing. Abrego Garcia, or the grand jury misconduct in the Broadview Six case, or the fact that he's got a 2% conviction rate in Chicago for assaults on ICE officers, or the fact that multiple U.S. attorneys have been disqualified. I mean, there's so much out there to go against Todd Blanche that they're like, yeah, but this weaponization fund thing is a bridge too far. And I'm sure. And again, like you said, they're leaving. So it's not necessarily because of the polling.
And it's two guys who are leaving who owe Trump nothing.
Right. And who he probably doesn't have dirt on, so he can't keep them quiet.
Correct. I don't think John Cornyn's been partying the Matt Gaetz way, but it's an incredibly positive story, whatever happened. Even if Todd Blanche remains the acting ag, which I guess is Trump's whole scheme, he seems very confident he's he's going to have a Republican Senate next year that would confirm his criminal defense lawyer. But again, he's not losing these Republicans because they're suddenly becoming brave or moral. That's the great part about it. He's losing these Republicans because political gravity still exists. And we have to remember to enjoy this just a bit for the next two and a half years, because it ain't going to get better.
Yeah. And while that unanimous consent resolution objecting to a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell is non binding, and I know a lot of people have been like, oh, come back to me, when it's binding, you can't. The Congress cannot take away the president's pardon power. It's called the separation of powers. It's called checks and balances. It's. Let me get out my old Schoolhouse Rock, for you. They can't do a binding resolution, prohibiting any kind of a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, like they can with a war, but not with a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell. and so. So I think there's not much else they could have done. And they're like, well, what. What the hell else have they done? And I was like, well, they did pass the Epstein Files Transparency act. And, you know, like, well, a lot of good that did. And I'm like, but they passed it. There's not much else they can do to enforce it.
That law is going to be doing good for a very long time, because you either follow that law, which Donald Trump signed as of December 19, he's supposed to release all these names. And because he hasn't done it, I think, Allison, that makes Donald Trump what we call an illegal around these parts. Right. A filthy, swarthy illegal.
Right.
And if it's not an official act, could be brought up on charges for this. And I think he knows that, and that's why he's so desperate about the tax immunity. Even though the judge in that case, Judge Williams down in Miami, voided, for legal purposes, the settlement that created the slush fund.
That's right.
she didn't weigh in on the legality of it. She just simply said, look, this is not a settlement pursuant to a court proceeding. What you have is you just have a deal that you cut with your own Department of Justice to get tax immunity. I'm not weighing in on whether that's legal or not here. That's not for me to decide. And so I think what Trump believes is that if he gets out of office and he makes it, you know, that long and he's brought up on tax charges, that he can somehow try to get the Supreme Court, his Supreme Court, to grant him this tax immunity because DOJ gave it to him, but that'll be litigated. But m. I think he'd rather roll the dice with his Supreme Court than to rescind it and, have Todd Blanche be the actual Attorney General.

It just breaks my heart.
John. It's really important historically that this is not a confirmed, at least as of now, Attorney General, because historically, when you look at it, we can Say he was not. You're not the real Attorney General. he wasn't confirmed. And I don't know if that has any impact on future crimes or immunity to say, well, you know, Jeffrey Clark, he had to be pulled out of Jack Smith's indictment because of the immunity ruling.
That's right.
But Jeffrey Clark was confirmed by the Senate in his job.
He wasn't some scab.
But nobody litigated that. Now, to be fair, Todd Blanche was confirmed as Deputy Attorney General in March of 2025 by the Senate.
I think that's a different job.
It's a different job. So that could be litigated. Probably we'd lose in this particular Supreme Court, but that's why we need to pull the filibuster and add seats to it. But anyway, I just have all sorts of cool little legal theories going around here.
I know, and it gets m me so down. I hate to be a drag, but I'm just so sad at the thought that Trump might die in office and escape any scrutin for this post presidency. I just, I'm sorry. I want him to live a really, really. I know it's not popular for you liberals with your morality and empathy, but I want Trump to live a long time. I mean, like, like his dad made it to the 90s with full blown dementia and I could live with that. I want Donald Trump to have a very publicly embarrassing final couple, of years. So I, I preferably, in the Hague. But, but yeah, I think it would be a tragedy if our president were to die in office and, and avoid all of this, which is going to come under Attorney General Jack Smith in late January. Let me live in my world. Please let me live in my world.
I was just reading again. I was revisiting Jack Smith's motion to dismiss the January 6th case against Donald Trump.
Oh, yeah, Artful.
We were in a fog after the loss of that election and I wanted to kind of bring it back to the forefront to where he says, judge, I've looked at the OLC memos, 1973 and 2000, and they actually contemplate the President being, charged once he's out of office. And so I think we should dismiss this case. We can't hold it in abeyance, but we can dismiss it without prejudice because, beautiful. The presidency could, and it hasn't been litigated, but the presidency is a temporary office and it doesn't care who sits in the seat. But it could be paused. We should consider tolling the statute of limitations during a presidency because we aren't allowed to indict or even have an indictment in abeyance for a sitting president.
And just to add to that, that Donald Trump, in his, performance of his sins and crimes on January 6, was not acting as the president. I'm pretty sure he was acting as a candidate, so the immunity ruling wouldn't apply to him. And, I'm going to stay alive just for this moment. I mean, imagine the irony of all of his confederates that went to fight his battles for him have been pardoned and Trump gets prosecuted for it. I mean, by the way, there's still a lot more prosecutions. We don't know who built the gallows. They never even tried to find out who built the gallows. Mean, Charlie Kirk spent a lot of his own money on those buses to bring these terrorists that beat the crap out of cops in D.C. there was nothing said about the entities that paid to bring these terrorists to Washington. So I would love to see Attorney General Jack Smith in late January of 2029 open this thing wide open. Because to me, Jack Smith's cases were like the TV show Deadwood. I was like, wait, you're canceling it without an ending? No, no, no, no. You got to come back and give me a movie in a few years and show me how this thing wraps up up and I, get to live in that reality too.
Yeah, for sure. one thing I wanted to talk to you about is something that you informed me of via text message, apparently a survey, a poll about Gen Z and the church.
Yeah.
And you know, since you're, you're the, a bonafide go to person for talking about all things, all things religion.
I'm the holy blasphemer. Yes.
Tell me, tell me, tell me what that poll found.
Well, I, I actually love this poll. This comes from Wheaton College's Billy Graham center. And to their survey. 48% of respondents, they went, they interviewed Gen Z people. 48% said that they agree with the statement Christians support of Trump has made me less likely to go to church. 48. Remember when, when they were telling us that that rock music was going to drive young people away from Christianity. It turns out it wasn't Aussie, Allison. It was Trump. And we've talked a lot about these white evangelicals, frauds, these leaders who choose the short term political success over long term spiritual credibility. But I mean, young people can see it. They're not leaving the church because of Jesus's teachings or because of God or Noah's Ark or Santa Claus. They're leaving because of the hypocrisy and the bigotry and the cruelty. You know, Jesus says, blessed are the peacemakers. Maga says, woke. Jesus says, love your enemies. Maga says, weak. Jesus says, welcome to stranger. Maga calls him an open borders come. Jesus says, put away your sword. Maga calls him a gun grabbing fed. I mean, Jesus says, easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. And Maga says, Please, Mr. Trump, can we put our head in your lap while you rake in billions through crypto? I mean, if you wanted to rig the exact opposite of the Gospels, you would have trouble doing better. So young people leaving the church is actually spiritually a very healthy sign in 2026.
That's fascinating because you and I have spoken at length about this. But this is also James, Talarico's point about the separation of church and state, where he has said, yes, it's bad for democracy. And we can talk. We've talked about how it's bad for democracy, but we haven't really talked about how it's bad for the church.
Yeah, well, I mean, Jesus says, turn the other cheek and love your enemies and put away your sword. He who lives by the sword will die by the sword. And these people don't care. Right wing Christians don't give a damn about helping the poor or welcoming the stranger or helping the sick or any of the actual things Jesus talked about. They want to go to war over the wrong color Starbucks cup. They want to go to war because they think men should be allowed to force rape victims to be pregnant by their attacker against their will in a free society. Because their only religion is not Christianity. I won't call them Christians. Their religion is powerful power and domination. And I do what I do because I don't think we'll ever break the grip of these moral frauds, from the Confederacy to segregation to the Tea Party to Maga, until we take away their religious camouflage. It's not sad that young people are leaving church. It's about the why they are rejecting this version of Christianity that turns the Prince of Peace into this loser director for culture wars. Because kids notice things. They notice when immigrant hate gets more. No, gets more condemnation than greed or racism. So I actually view this as being very, very healthy. That, you know, when you look at this millionaire at birth, thief with the gold plated everything, who made the Oval Office look like Liberace's Persian sex dungeon, you're allowed to say, you know what? This doesn't smell like actual Christianity. My grandma taught me about. I'm, out. And abandoning church on the Age of Trump could be the most Christian thing y' all can do.
Yeah, and it's about corruption. That's something else Talarico said. Do you really want to hook your church to this corrupt administration? It's going to be damaging to. It's going to be damaging not only to democracy, but the church itself. And speaking of corruption, I have some breaking news for you, my friend.

Blanche Tillis and Cornyn just wrapped up a meeting and, quote, are very near a resolution, per a source familiar with the talk. So it looks like their spines disappeared once again, my friend.
Wow. Yeah. They never had them in the first place.
Now, we don't know what's in this resolution. We don't know if, I'm pretty sure it's some fancy lawyer words that don't actually rescind this fund or the tax immunity or maybe clarify that it's only for past tax crimes or something along those lines. Because Cornyn never explained to us exactly what, the terms of his, vote would be like, what he needed from Blanche, what he needed in the papers that he said he failed to bring on Wednesday morning. But it looks like they're close to a resolution, which is what Tillis said last night. He was like, I think we can. I think we can fix this. I think we can still come.
That's great news. I'm so glad that that Corn and tell us have achieved this so they can go back to what they were planning on doing, which is not caring that Todd. Blanche gave the Epstein victims the finger in his meeting with them again. It's like, wow, I'm glad that the two right wing jerk offs got what they wanted in a meeting with Todd. Blanche, it's too bad the rape victims, who was. Whose rapist Todd continues to protect, got nothing. So let him do it, Alison. Let Donald Trump make his crooked criminal defense attorney, who met Ghislaine Maxwell in her cell and put her in a cushy club fit. Let them institutionalize their own corruption in the name of child rape. Let them make it worse for themselves.
We unanimously said we wouldn't like a pardon, though. We voted for, you know, we didn't object to that. So, that's. I felt like that was kind of like a fig leaf for this whole thing. when it happened yesterday, I was like, this is good. This is good news. But are they trying To. To justify letting Todd Blanche off the hook for his meeting with Ghislaine by doing this non binding resolution, opposing any future, the little paperwork things that they do to.
Oh, yeah, it was all paperwork.
Okay.
And greenlight. Absolute corruption.

A guy who could lose his law license.

For lying to court.
Yeah. Let's hope he winds up on Pam Bondi island too. I mean, look, there's a time and a place in the Senate for selective outrage, and it's called the Fauci hearings. These guys don't care. Cornyn didn't become a good person just because he hates Trump. He's a guy who hates Trump. Doesn't make him good. So if they do. Look, if they do have a spine on this one, great. But it kind of seems like they were only doing it because they had nothing left to lose. And then Republican Senate bravery is just another word for nothing left to lose.

You know, they're angry about this one thing. And, they don't really mind Todd Blanche all that much. If it's just about your terrorists who beat the crap out of cops, shouldn't get $1.8 billion. So they're going to try to do it. They're going to try to break the law. You know what? Elect Democratic Socialist Republicans. Go ahead and do it. I mean, I mean, Mandela Barnes just dropped out of the governor's race in Wisconsin because he can't match the FDR Democrat he's running against. So it has to get worse before it gets better. And George Bush was so awful. We got Barack Obama. It's going to get so much worse to give us such a better president. This is the time. These DSA candidates are doing so well, running on health care for all because Donald Trump is so awful, People are ready to see what the alternative really is, not what the neoliberal option is.
Well, that and Barnes was, according to a, state, Democratic Party review, taking advantage of his role in the party to have sexual encounters with young adult women.
Right, but whatever the reason was, it just shows in the polling he didn't drop out because, he was A cad. If you're protected by the party, you can be a cad all you want. He dropped out because he knew he was gonna lose to this woman who's a Democratic socialist in the state of Wisconsin right after Milad Kiros knocked off a, gazillion term incumbent herself in Colorado. I mean, this is the Mamdani effect. You get so awful, and then you appoint actual liberals who are competent and who care about helping working people more than donors. You can't stop them from bringing about results no matter how hard you try. And so I think we're gonna see incredible progress. I just think it's gonna have to get worse first. By the way, who would he. Who would he appoint point that would be substantially better for civil liberties than Todd Blanche? Like, Trump's got to go exhume William Brennan now. Like, who's he going to get? It's going to be another scumbag if it's not Todd Blanche.
I really wanted it to be a no. I really didn't want him to get confirmed. So he's so awful.
I mean, it would be like making.
We'll see what this agreement says. But, you know, I haven't dropped my lawsuit against the slush fund. I'm still one of the who's suing, so.
You know, Todd Blanche can't bring back a measles outbreak. I mean, there's some things he's not bad enough to do. Other guys have to pick up the slack. Like, there's so many atrocities in this cabinet and he deserves to own them all. And honestly, Attorney General Jack Smith is going to go after every one of these rat bastards in January of 2029. And that's reason to keep your head out of the oven, kids.

I formed an LLC at age 57 called the labia Latch Hook Club. I live in a small town in the foothills of southwest of Denver [Riggleman and since my like minded girlfriends and I get together all the time anyway, I decided we needed to try to be productive every once in a while. While this craft unfortunately slows our cocktailing, I thought we would concentrate our thoughts on each other. So our first theme is create something that will make the recipient smile and laugh. I'm telling you what, I'll, grab the next one too. A very relieved mama. My husband was at work in Menasha, Wisconsin when a fucking tornado tore through.

At that time, my kids were on a field trip riding on a school bus on the highway. Oh, how terrifying. He is safe. My kids are safe. And amazingly, so is everyone else. But as of Monday night, zero fatalities, which is a miracle if you look at the damage the tornado left behind. If the tornado didn't go over the lake and dissipate in the water, it would have been much worse. This is Glenn Grothman's district, Wisconsin CD6. I just know that is going to show up for a photo op and then vote to deny funding to rebuild because he enjoys voting against his constituent in interests. Why can't I speak today? that guy. I saw a video of a guy that was filming a storm for his friend, and the tornado ripped through his house. House. And he survived.

I grew up in Cleveland. I was terrified of tornadoes. That was like the scariest thing to me.
Yeah, look at this baby. This is from Anonymous. No pronouns given. In January, I was in a wheelchair. Last week in physical therapy, I got up off the floor four times by myself. Well done, Adonis. Anonymous. Yay for the doctor who figured out that I was having a rare reaction to my meds, altered them, and stopped my scary decline. She rocks. Also, here's Amelia rocking her first metal onesie. But dg, if you're listening, we miss you too. I missed you all as well, Jennifer. I had to write in. After this past weekend's ordeal, my young adult child needed to get their dog to the vet. But like a lot of people here in the U. S, they just couldn't swing what it costs. Since we're in San Diego, they use a transport company to bring their dog down to Tijuana for care. Care. Everything went smoothly, and Astrid was on her way back home. Or so we thought. Somewhere in the final moments of her care, there was a human error. A vet tech accidentally opened her lead, and she bolted. We got the call at 9:36pm on Friday night. And here's what made it so much harder. My kid doesn't have a passport, they're trans, and their ID and birth certificate don't match. So we don't feel safe sending them across the border on their own to search for her. And I don't blame you. So we did what we could from here. Through a mountain of Facebook posts, real effort from the transport company in the vet's office, and a ton of complete strangers. Someone finally spotted Astrid on Sunday morning. I drove down to Mexico to pick her up myself. The experience had its ugly side. We got hit by scammers using AI to try to convince us that they had her, which is genuinely scary to think about. God, that's fucking up. But for every one of those, there were so many more incredible strangers pouring their own time, money, and energy into finding a dog they'd never met. Honestly, it topped off a tank of faith in humanity that had been running pretty low. Enclosed are a few pictures. The first is the photo the stranger originally texted me when they found Astrid. The second is her reunion the moment I got back across the border. Thank you for all you do to keep us sane. And look at the baby. Is this your pup? Looks like it might be. Can you send video?
