It was good. It was relaxing. I actually only did one work thing on Saturday, so.
Wow. It was nice.
It was pretty nice. There is a new episode of Unjustified out came out yesterday. Andy McCabe and I talk about like, I did a stiff on DC's hottest club is the Department of Justice. It's got everything. Footlongs, reflecting pools, grand jury malfeasance. promoter Jeanine Pirro hits the dance floor and loses. Loses the presumption of regularity.
Oh, my God. So good.
It's the whole episode is what we call hit me on the head with a bat, which is just the DOJ completely unraveling. And then on Sunday, also, I interviewed Katie Fang about bombshell lawsuit. You know, she sued to get the Epstein files.
Yeah.
And Todd Blanche actually had to turn over some unredacted Epstein files to be reviewed by the judge in his chambers. And you know, this lawsuit's been going for a while, Dana. The DOJ admitted. Didn't admit. They. Well, first of all, they admitted that there were m. Mistakes made in the redaction process, and they didn't admit it until they were forced to hand over some of these unredacted documents. So I talked to Katie Fang. You can see that@melissyroute.com, absolutely insane story.
Yeah, good for Katie. I mean, so much is being unearthed because of her.
Yeah. And in her lawsuit, Todd Blanche provides this. These like, Epstein redaction training materials that he released in January, like after he was supposed to release the files. But in my Lawsuit to get the Epstein training videos from a year ago when they locked everybody in the building, you know, for 48 hours at a time to redact the training. They said that they can't release those training materials, but here's the ones that cover my ass. So. It's just fascinating. Fascinating. It is, yeah. Also, my heart right now goes out to everyone in the path of the fires in the Pacific Northwest, in Washington, Oregon, reaching into Idaho, Montana. People are being evacuated areas like Spokane and around Portland. And I just want to, I just want to extend my love to everybody in those areas. And I hope everyone's staying safe.
There's so much of this world, not just the United States, this world that is on fire. Spain, Italy. It's horrifying what's going on. Yeah. So we, it's definitely. We're keeping everyone our thoughts. If you hear an evacuation order, please don't around and find out. If you are ordered to evacuate, get what you need and go. It is just not worth it.
Yeah, agreed. so please everyone take care and be safe. You know, Dana and I both live in California and we deal with our share of fire seasons as well. So just heart goes out to you before we get into the hot notes. Content warning here for domestic violence. Max Miller, Rep. Max Miller, what a piece of garbage. You know, he's been under scrutiny for abusing his child who had a broken collarbone, abusing his wife, throwing boiling water on her. Just horrible accounts of abuse. And you know, a couple days ago he put out a thing on Twitter and he's like, I'm gonna make an announcement on Twitter tomorrow at 10am and people were like, oh, is he gonna drop out of his race? Cause he's running for house again in Ohio. Is he gonna resign his current position? We know, I wonder what's going to happen. All he did, Dana, was get on, put a 20 minute video out gaslighting his ex wife.
Oh my God. Which looked like AI, by the way. This whole. Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you what happened with this. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
He said, ladies and gentlemen, like a hundred times during this video. And it's very triggering. If you are a survivor of domestic violence. I, I wouldn't watch it because it's everything you've heard before. It's. Well, my ex wife has mental health issues and so I think she's making this all up in her head or you know, he took no responsibility. He said they were just roughhousing. When he sprayed, you know, scalding hot water on His. On his wife. He clandestinely recorded their conversations. It just abuse, coercion and. And physical abuse. And, you know, I mean, it's. It's tough to watch. But notably, he did not resign, didn't drop out, just gaslit. Everybody blamed the left win for smearing him for 20 minutes.
Yeah. And then what he did, he thought he was being smart. He put out evidence to show that somehow he did not abuse his wife. And in this evidence is a recording of her basically catching him and accusing him of being a drug user. And he doesn't deny it. He just says that the needles she found couldn't have been where she said she found him because he doesn't keep them next to the bed. Like, it's a very interesting excerpt and recording where he never says that he's not using him. He's just basically like, I know you didn't find him there. I don't keep him. It's. But it's bizarre. But this man is clearly mentally ill. Yeah. Has admitted that he needs some help.
I'm sorry to interrupt. What's interesting about that clip that you just mentioned is at the very beginning of it, she's like, have you been secretly recording our conversations? He's like, I don't record our conversations. And it is a. He's recording their conversations.
yeah.
Anyway. Sorry, what were you saying?
No, I mean, we could go on and on about it. Thank God, though. So his ex wife's father finally spoke out. His ex wife's father is a senator. It's Bernie Moreno. And he finally spoke out about all this. And in the post, he's like, I was trying to keep this quiet, but Max Miller has made it basically impossible because he's been spouting out publicly about this and has made it a public issue. And his statement is pretty powerful, I would say. And he said, if there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them. He should not serve in the House of Representatives. I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. I believe he should not be free to continue endangering others until he does. And, you know, the bottom line is this is the grandfather of his child. And so he is worried about his granddaughter's physical probably, and mental health, and obviously his daughter's physical and mental health. And he finally spoke out.
Yeah. And another thing that Max Miller tried to release as evidence that he didn't abuse his wife or text messages of his wife being nice to him. Or the fact that she made him dinner after an alleged incident of abuse. And again, anybody who is a domestic violence survivor or knows one, you have to play nice while you're planning your escape. You have to act like everything is fine so you don't get dead.
Yeah.
It's just, it's how. What you have to do. And it reminded me of. Remember Donald Trump in the Eugene Carroll case? Well, look, here she is at a party, right A, year after, she claims I raped her. Like, smiling and having fun. Like all victims are supposed to be in a fetal position, locked in their rooms and super depressed forever as some sort of evidence that there was no abuse. Now, his ex wife had a spokesperson put out a statement on her behalf as well, saying it's shameful that Max Miller decided to go on a bizarre and lie filled rant about his ex wife speaking about that video to desperately try to save his political career. There is a documented trove of evidence that Miller has a history of violent and dangerous behavior, and no amount of victim shaming will change that. It is despicable and abhorrent that Miller lied on an unhinged and humiliating video for their daughter to watch one day. No living parent would have ever use their daughter as a PR pawn to save their own political career. Miller can lie and spin on Twitter, but he cannot do so under oath in a court of law. And we are confident that justice will prevail in court. So he's not resigning?

And he's not getting out of the race. And I think current polls show him five points down from a Democrat in a very red district in Ohio.
Let's go.
And you want to stay in the race, buddy? I hope you get your ass handed to you and then you end up in jail.

My abuser was, you know, I was granted a restraining order because the judge, he clandestinely recorded our conversations as well.

And in California, by the way, if you're found to have been abusive, if you commit domestic violence, you still get half of what your partner gets. So I ended up suing because he admitted to that felony.
Oh, wow.
And didn't have to give up half of my stuff because I was the one with stuff and he wasn't. But it's tough to watch. But I think every single person probably has been a survivor or at least knows somebody.

All right, first up from the hill, the Trump administration Friday appealed a ruling from that federal judge in Miami who found that the president effectively colluded with his own government in bringing a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS. That lawsuit, which the Justice Department pointed to as the basis for creating its $1.776 billion anti weaponization slush fund, was highly criticized by Florida based U.S. district Judge Kathleen Williams, who said the case was, quote, brought to manipulate the judicial process. The Department of Justice never needed the litigation to create the fund, and Williams ruling did not block it, though she did order the parties to not refer to the fund as a settlement in the case. Where did I, where have I heard that before? But it nonetheless shows the Trump administration's appetite for continued battles over the fund and could indicate an effort to revive the president's suit against the irs. It comes as Trump has faced roadblocks in the Senate to confirming his pick to lead the doj, Todd Blanche, as two Republican senators have asked the top attorney to put in writing his pledge to end the anti weaponization fund. And then, Dana, 90 minutes after Trump appealed the federal court's ruling on his slush fund, the same administration filed a motion to dismiss my slush fund lawsuit, claiming, among other things, that my lawsuit is moot because the fund is not moving forward.
That, those two things can't exist at the same time.
90 minutes. Additionally, the Justice Department claims I lack standing, that the court lacks subject matter jurisdiction, and that I do not state a claim for which relief can be granted. None of those things are true. We're going to argue against those claims. But the fact that the DOJ says my complaint is moot because the fund is dead. Just 90 minutes after Trump appealed the nullification of the fund is laughable. I'm going to keep everybody posted on our next steps in my lawsuit. I'm one of four folks who's been suing over this. That same day, Dana, Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee defeated an effort by Democrats to block a plan by the Trump administration to shield the president from IRS audits. Lawmakers voted along party lines to kill an amendment in committee to a Tax Administration bill before the panel that would have barred the administration from implementing the tax immunity. And then President Donald Trump threatened on Saturday to revive his controversial plan for federal payouts to people he says were badly treated by Obama and Biden, telling senators that he would push hard for legislation to fund those payments. The slush fund, if they did not confirm his nominee for Attorney general. General basically admitting, I'm trying to get Todd Blanche confirmed. So we can move forward with my slush fund.
Yep.
Now, Trump added that he would keep Blanche as acting Attorney General and blasted Cornyn and Tillis, who, as we know, have blocked the nomination from advancing over concerns about this fund. And Chuck Grassley, he's the chair on the Senate Judiciary.
He's also 180 years old.
He's rescheduled this vote. Now, he postponed it last Thursday, and now he's rescheduled it in a preemptive move as negotiations between Trump and administration and GOP holdouts continue. The vote is now set for Tuesday after a scheduled Thursday vote was postponed. As I said, it isn't an indication that a deal allowing for Blanche's confirmation is near so much as it is a nod to the Judiciary Committee rules that require three days of notice for a panel meeting. So he's just hoping they'll work out a deal with Cornyn and Tillis and Todd Blanche by Tuesday. There are about five sources cited in everything I just covered. All right, Allison, thank you so much. This next one is from NBC. We got a little good news for you. And this is just embarrassing for the entire administration. The Trump administration has dropped its case against a former Olympic canoe as charged in connection with damage to the reflecting pool. They're acknowledging its allegations against David Davey Hearn. They don't hold water, pun intended. In a filing Friday afternoon, a supervisor in the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Columbia, which is headed by I love my box of Wine, Jeanine Piero wrote that officials obtained information that undermined, and I quote, the evidentiary basis for the indictment against Hearn. Prosecutors said that after the indictment came down on July 2, the Interior Department provided additional documents to the U.S. attorney's office and I quote, indicating that damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June of 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor that no bid, $15 million contract or $13 million contract. And that company is Atlantic Industrial Coatings and such.
Bullshit. If you've been listening to Norm Eisen, who's one of Davey Hear attorneys. Oh, we didn't get stuff from the Interior Department. Norm Eisen's like, we gave you all the evidence up front.
Yep.
And you ignored it.
The entire administration lied. Caroline Levitt lied. Janine Perel lied. Everyone lied about this. The DOJ said, and I quote, first became aware of information showing that the damage was the result of a botched installation and not vandalism. After reviewing more documents, quote, had the Interior Department been forthcoming with the information clearly in its possession, the government would not have sought a grand jury indictment. That's what the filing said. The DOJ said when it presented the case to a grand jury, it was not in possession of any information from DOI indicating that any damage to the Reflecting Pool was caused by anything other than the actions of the defendant and other vandals who damaged the pool's lining. The Justice Department filing said that based on its review of evidence, and I quote, it is difficult to attribute the widespread damage to the Reflecting Pool to vandalism, let alone to establish that fact beyond a reasonable doubt. Unbelievable that the statement is coming from this fucking Justice Department. Someone's losing their job.
Yeah.
Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social Saturday, said he disagreed with the Justice Department's decision to drop the case. I disagree 100% with Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, on the Reflecting Pool. I don't know what she's thinking. To me, it was a pure case of vandalism. That's what Trump wrote. And he added, there may have been some contractor difficulty, but the major damage was caused by vandals.
Prove it.
Yeah. In a later post on True Social, on Saturday, the president continued to blame vandalism for the damage in the Reflecting Pool, posting a video of the pool, quote, the government's case against Davey Hearn should never have been brought. This is Hearn's attorney, Stephen Levin. He said in a statement on Friday, its dismissal today does not erase the abuse of government power in arresting and charging a patriotic American. The government's approach was. Ready, shoot, aim. The federal government owes Mr. Hearn an apology. Norm Eisen says he's keeping all legal remedies on the table. So we'll look to see whether they demand grand jury materials and file for the government to pay Davy's legal fees and refer the DOJ lawyers to the bar for disciplinary action. And I hope they do.
I hope they do, too. And I know a lot of people are like, davey should sue them. You can't really sue prosecutors in criminal cases. The win is to not be charged. but you can go after the fees. You know, we saw that, kind of thing like in this, in the Broadview Six case when the grand. There was grand jury malfeasance. We're seeing it in the, Judge Subramanian's courtroom with regard to the New York Times journalist subpoenas. They Want to see the grand jury materials? There's some more that can be done, rather than just, you know, walk away scot free here. And so we'll keep an eye on it. All right, check this out. This is from npr. This is a story that flew way under the radar this weekend. Capital One, the bank closed Trump's bank accounts for money laundering. So here's the story. Capital One bank has asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit from Trump and the Trump Organization over the closure of hundreds of hundreds of bank accounts back in 2021, arguing in New papers that the shutdowns were the product of a months long anti money laundering review, not retaliation for the January 6 Capitol riot, as the Trump family businesses have claimed in their lawsuits. Trump is suing Capital One for closing hundreds of their bank accounts back in 2021, saying that the bank was politically retaliating against Trump. And the bank filed a thing in court saying, no, it was because you were laundering money. In a motion to dismiss the case filed Friday in a Florida federal court, Capital One's lawyers wrote that the bank's own filings and the Trump business's allegations, quote, make clear that Capital One closed the plaintiff's accounts for anti money laundering reasons. Hundreds of bank accounts.
This is wild. I mean, discovery, if this goes forward is going to be crazy.
Oh, Trump will drop the case before he ever gets to discovery.
It'll never happen. Happen.
The bank said the decision followed months of analysis and careful review by its financial crimes team, which it said was staffed by employees with decades of law enforcement experience. But the filings suggest the Trump Organization and affiliated entities were given no opportunity to address any money laundering or compliance concerns before the account's closures. So the case centers on roughly 385 bank accounts tied to the Trump Organization, Eric Trump, and a collection of affiliated businesses, including a winery, a bottled water company, and a golf course developer. Oh, they were all money laundering fronts. No, I know all of these things. That banked with Capital One for more than a decade before the accounts were shut down in 2021. In an amended complaint filed earlier in July, the Trump affiliated companies insisted the closures had nothing to do with financial crime or money laundering, but just politics. It was politics. The Trump Organization alleged Capital One moved to distance itself from Trump after the Capitol R and that the bank's cited anti money laundering rationale was invented after the fact to cover for their political decision.
Yeah.
Capital One has flatly denied those assertions, with its lawyers arguing in the new filing that Trump's theory rests on cherry picked quotations unsupported by the full context of the bank's own records. And that nothing in the complaint shows the anti money laundering explanation was a cover story. The bank's lawyers also noted that it kept its reasoning for the closures confidential at the time. It didn't tell anyone they were closing 385Trump establishments associated bank accounts for money laundering, quote. It never publicized the termination decision nor its confidential internal process giving rise to the closure. And gave the Trump companies months plus several extensions to move their money elsewhere, which they did.
I, I just, it's unbelievable. I, I blame Mark Barnett for so much.
Yeah, I know.
But making the general public believe that this guy was a legitimate businessman, it's wild. All right. And to no one's surprise, Trump has tacoed again. this is right before the markets open, by the way. The story's from The Associated Press. U.S. president Trump says he will order American forces to hold off on new strikes against Iran. Again I know. Claiming Mideast allies have reached the parameters of a deal to end the five month old war. How is this a five month old war if you never got congressional approval?
He actually said the perimeters of a deal.
But okay, yeah, the emerging deal, and I quote, would include the immediate, complete and total opening of the Hormuz Strait and an end to Iran's nuclear threat. That's what Trump wrote on Saturday evening. So I thought that was already obliterated.
I thought we did that 17 times already.
Yeah, me too. Based on this request, I have agreed for the future benefit of the world and likewise the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran that canceled the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a deal. The top US General in Europe privately warned the Pentagon this week that he lacks sufficient naval forces to continue protecting Israel from incoming ballistic missiles. That illustrates how the ongoing Iran war has imposed constraints on the military. General Alexis Grankiewicz, that's the head of U.S. european Command, sent written notification to senior Pentagon officials saying that without another Navy destroyer, he's going to be forced to choose defense of the United States homeland over that of Israel. That's what the officials said, who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity. The Navy has been particularly taxed as the Trump administration has directed a blockade of Iranian ports in response to Tehran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is going to be open tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. The standoff has stymied the movement of Middle Eastern oil and other commodities through the narrow waterway, upending the global economy. Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger announced, Friday that she has restored voting rights to 66,085 people who otherwise wouldn't be able to vote because of past felony convictions. This constitutes a dramatic reversal of former Governor Glenn Youngkin's tenure, during which he restored the voting rights of, fewer than 10,000 people with past felony convictions across his entire four year term between 2022 and 2025. That was a departure from predecessor governors of both parties, by the way, who restored the voting rights of more than 300,000 formerly incarcerated Virginians since 2013.

That's banberger. These Virginians deserve the right to use their vote, make their voice heard, and be recognized as contributing citizens to our commonwealth and country. In Virginia, people who have been convicted of felony crimes and banned from voting and holding public office under the state's constitution. Okay. Now, According to the ACLU of Virginia, more than 300,000 Virginians were unable to vote due to the ban last year. Rights can only be restored for those with felony convictions in Virginia at the governor's discretion. Now, it was considered one of the most restrictive state felony disenfranchisement policies in the US until the federal court struck down the state's constitutional felon voting ban in January, ruling that it violated federal law. There are still roughly 4 million people across the rest of the country who are prevented from voting due to felony convictions. That's according to the Sentencing Project. Voting rights experts say that such laws are racially discriminatory, given that African Americans are disproportionately falsely convicted of crimes in the United States.
every blue state, every state that has a blue legislature, blue governor, blue secretary of state, every blue state should be doing stuff like this a hundred percent to max out the vote. And again, I say blue states because in red states, where there's red governors and red state legislatures, they're not gonna expand voting rights. That's why I'm saying the blue states should do this redistrict, right?

Expand early voting, in person voting, put out more drop boxes, increase the, the grace period for receiving a mail in ballot after election day. Let's call it votes maxing, whatever. Like, and again, this is for people who vote Republican, independent, green, Democrat, just like so more people can vote. I think blue states should be doing this everywhere they can until we can get in, add four seats to the Supreme Court and pass an actual voting Rights Act. Restore the old Voting Rights act and expand on it so that the Supreme Court doesn't gut it. But that's what we should be doing in our states. I like it where we can get it done. So, man, hey, if you're in a blue state, you got a blue state assembly, blue state legislature, call them up, write to them, say, hey, we need to expand voting, early voting in person voting, dropboxes, whatever. grace periods, get rid of laws that have weird AI signature matching bullshit. I just learned this morning of a fantastic program put on by Ozzie Albeez, second baseman for the Atlanta Braves. He works with Lifeline, which is a program that tries to find homes for shelter dogs. I love when sports people, like, do shelter dog shit.

On certain nights, Lifeline brings a dog to the ballpark and gets a photo op with Ozzy. Plus, the dog is featured on the Jumbotron. Lifeline is there to finalize an adoption, if there is one to happen. Many of these dogs go to forever homes from the stadium, never to see the shelter again. I'm enclosing a photo of dazzling the dog who is going to the ball game on Tuesday. Isn't she beautiful in her swimsuit? Her handler says she's mainly a Staffordshire terrier with some other terrier. The second photo is of Ozzy with one of the dogs who has been adopted. Ozzy also has a shelter of his own. And I found all this news incredible and joy inspiring.

And the issues that finally forced my hand was your coverage of the Iran war and the confirmation hearing stuff, going on with Todd Blanch. I live in North Carolina, and so I made a list of my grievances and called only to be pleasantly surprised with just the ability to leave a voicemail. Easy peasy with Thom Tillis office. A live person, a clerk or secretary, I think answered at Bud Hunt's office. I was a little nervous for that one, but I did it. Now I'm motivated to call all of my state legislatures and voice my concerns and opinions. And I'm not always being very nice about what I tell them. It's only been a week or so, but I am not shy about saying the unhinged DJT has to go. My calls have been because you have encouraged me. So thank you. I love my daily beans, folks. Recently, I was laid off from a company that I've worked for for the last five years. And because of some paperwork and the way that they had organized things on their end, it looked like it didn't have enough hours to qualify for unemployment benefits in my state. But fortunately, this is a government program that actually works very well. They were able to call me to get my consent and then contact the state where my hours had been erroneously reported because of my virtual work arrangements and pulled those hours over so I could become eligible for unemployment benefits. This is a huge weight off my family's and my shoulders at a time that's already stressful. Enough. Enough. Attached is a photo of the best dog I've ever known named Zipper, who crossed the rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago. The photo is from after his first day at doggy daycare as a little puppy. Well, a 40 pound puppy. He was such a good boy. Look at him. Oh, I bet he was a good boy.
