Msw media. Hello, and welcome to the Daily beans for Thursday, August 20, 2026. Today, U.S. attorney Jeanine Pirro Box of Wine. Has had a meltdown over a judge releasing a woman accused of vandalizing the World War II memorial in D.C. trump has walked back his tariffs on Canada because it wouldn't be Tuesday without tacos. Pete Hegseth has traveled to Iowa to campaign for Republican Zach Nunn and maybe for himself. And mixed results emerge from elections in Alaska, Wyoming, California, Pennsylvania and Florida. I'm Alison Gill.

And I'm Dana Goldberg.

Hello. Hello, my friend. Happy Thursday.

Happy Thursday. I'm glad you're with me. There was a small chance you weren't going to be today, but look at you.

There was a little chance, that I wasn't going to make. I had a minor procedure today on my face, a skin procedure, and they went in and found a tiny cyst and removed it and patched me up, and I am back on the job. So if I sound a little tired, it's because I am.

There you go. But I'm glad you're with me, and I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. Make sure you get your skin checked, everyone. And if you notice anything that just doesn't seem normal, make sure they check it out for you.

Absolutely. Thank you for that psa. The more, you know, Doo Loo Loo Star goes across the screen.

Cue Shooting Star.

and you'll see it. You'll get to see the whole face. I think it's an improvement. But you'll get to see it over on Beast.

Knock it off on the face. Beautiful.

I think I look badass now. but, you know, it'll be on video over on Beans Talks. If you're really interested. You can check it out. We're going to be talking about, though, like, the actual reason we're doing the video podcast, which is some election stuff and some debate gaffes that are just horrific to watch, so you don't want to miss it. Yeah. And if you get a chance to go to Charlotte's Web's Thoughts of Our Friend Charlotte Clymer and read her essay about this particular debate gaffe from Darlene Nordone. I like to use her married name to honor, you know, her husband. But, most people know her as Darlene Graham. Yes. Just completely, wholly unqualified, nepotistic sack of shit.

So talk about DEI in full force.

My goodness.

Because who does DEI help the most, Allison? White women. Historically.

Historically, it is true. All right, well, we definitely Got to take advantage while we can, said Darlene Nordone, who changed her last name. All right everybody, we have a lot of news to get to. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot notes. All right, first up from abc, several high profile primary races on Tuesday tested how much Trump's endorsement can do for a scandal marred candidate. it showed the impact of Republicans mid decade redistricting as well. And it highlighted the continued, quote, unquote battle between establishment Democratic candidates and progressive challengers. And I just want to jump in here and say, abc, look, I know you're suing with Disney, I know you're suing Trump over the fcc, and I applaud you for that. But I really would like it if corporate media would stop trying to paint factions in the Democratic Party in that really don't exist.

We all, the most of us, the grand majority of Democrats want the same stuff. And I feel like the billionaires are trying to sort us into far left and you know, super corporate moderate factions and socialists. Yeah, now we've got some corporate donor class Dems, no doubt about it.

Sure.

And there are some, you know, things I disagree with on certain platforms, on certain DSA websites that might be one chapter. Like, I don't want to abolish the Senate. I think we could probably have more senators in California than Wyoming. But regardless, all of us are somewhere in between.

Right.

So I really wish that they would stop painting it that way. I just wanted to throw that in there. But anyway, here are the takeaways from Tuesday's primaries. Embattled and scandal ridden Republican Rep. Cory Mills lost his reelection bid in Florida Tuesday, defeated by. Yeah, I know, I'm so happy about this. Defeated by challenger Ryan Elijah, a former TV news news anchor and NFL sideline reporter. Now Mills faces a House Ethics Committee investigation. A judge issued a restraining order against him last year after he was accused by his former girlfriend of threatening to distribute sexually explicit videos of her. And in July, ABC News reported that the embattled congressman was also under investigation by the Department of Justice, Trump's Department of Justice, in part because of his finances. Mills has denied all the allegations. And his loss suggests that Republicans have limits when it comes to how long they can stand behind a candidate carrying too much baggage. Despite the scandals that have followed him, Mills still retained Trump's endorsement.

Amazing. Amazing. All right, next up, Republican Rep. Byron Donalds unsurprisingly secured his party's nomination in the gubernatorial race in Florida. Donald's campaign has received immense support among Republicans and Trump's endorsement. Donald now faces the task of uniting his party after what was a bruising primary. He said he received congratulatory calls from his competitors. Those were Paul Renner and James Fishback. In his victory speech, Donald's calls for Florida Republicans to come together. Who thought you would have to ask Republicans in Florida to ever come together, he said. But tonight the primary is over. Tonight we put aside our differences. Tonight we, we are one united Republican Party. That's what Donald said. Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz won her primary in Florida's historically black 20th congressional district that was redrawn this year by the Republican controlled legislature. Her decision to run in the district, it drew criticism from her four black opponents and other black Democrats who have already been impacted by Republican redistricting efforts in southern states. In her victory speech, Wasserman Schultz referenced redistricting Republicans hope will improve their chances of retaining the House in November. She promised the redrawn majority minority district that increasing representation is among her top priorities. And I quote, this is such a difficult and fraught time in our country. There is so much at stake in this moment and I want people to know that representation matters. It matters and I will fight to make sure that representation counts again. That's what she said Tuesday evening.

Now in the Democratic primary for Florida's 25th district, two term incumbent Jared Moskowitz, who was also running in a redrawn district, fended off a challenge from our friend who we've interviewed here on the beans a couple of times, Democratic Socialist candidate Oliver Larkin. Now the race highlighted how support for Israel is becoming a prominent issue in this year's elections as more Democrats have become less supportive. Moskowitz has been a staunch supporter of Israel while Larkin has called for the US to cut off aid. The race was a continuation of established Democratic candidates facing challenges from progressives as seen in the Senate race in Michigan. Moskowitz now faces a competitive general election in November as his seat is one that Republicans see as a top pickup opportunity after the redistricting. And in district 19 oh this is a shit show. Madison Cawthorn ran. Oh dear, yes, that Madison Cawthorn from North Carolina, Chris Collins was a candidate. The indicted former New York congressman.

Good lord.

The first person to endorse Trump from Congress in 2015 and Trump endorsed candidate who ran two failed House campaigns in Illinois named Catalina Loaf. They all lost to a guy named Jim Schwartzel. There was also a January 6th insurrectionist pardoned by Trump slash underwear model who came in like sixth place. But Schwartzel is Gonna face a Democrat, Victor Arias, in the general election. Oh, and In Florida District 6, by the way, this was another crazy group of candidates. We have Islamophobe Republican Randy Fine. We all know him. He's the incumbent. He beat the anti Semitic guy, Dan Bilzerian. So they were running, like, ads, like, Bilzerian like, brought up the ghost of Hitler and said, we should talk to this guy again. And Randy Fine is, like, crosshairs on Muslims. Like, it's just the most sensible.

You're also seeing an interesting, like, hierarchy of priorities for you're in Florida. There's a lot of Jewish people in Florida. So it does not surprise me that the candidate that was supporting Israel beat the Democratic Socialist and also the one that seems anti Semitic, Dan lost. So, you know, regardless, you gotta remember who your audience is down there. Not everyone's Jewish, but there's a large Jewish population.

Well, that's why I think a lot of these progressive and some moderate Democrats who actually go out and hit the trail and ask voters what they want and then run on that, like the model we saw Mamdani run in New York. That's what works. I hear some good news. You know Maxwell Frost.

I love him.

Yes, I do.

His slate of progressive candidates won their school board elections to oust Moms of Liberty. So Angie Gallo won the chair. She'll be the chair of that school board. Melissa Morentez and Gloria Rena o' Neill won districts one and two, respectively. So his slate, he basically endorsed a slate of women to take over from Moms of Liberty on this school board. Yeah, and from the post. Democrats haven't won statewide in Florida since 2018, and they face long odds this year. But a pair of wild cards won over primary voters, and they'll try to reverse the party's losing streak. That's David Jolly, former Republican turned independent, now running as a Democrat. Trump criticism. David Jolly, you've probably seen him on msnbc M. He beat challengers from the left to take on Byron Donalds, who you talked about a minute ago in the governor's race. Now he'll be on the ballot alongside Angie Nixon, a progressive state lawmaker from Jacksonville who recently joins the Democratic Socialists of America, but has not been endorsed by that group or any of its chapters. And, Angie was. This was an upset she was facing Alexander Vindman.

Yep.

Our friend, key witness in Trump's first impeachment trial. She overcame a massive disadvantage in fundraising and spending, and she's gonna face now Senator Ashley Moody, who is in her second year in Congress after being appointed to fill the seat left open when Marco Rubio became Secretary of State. Now, Donalds and Moody will be heavily favored in these races. So Angie Nixon and David Jolly are pretty big underdogs in this, and I think they will have a better chance if they unite.

Ah.

Because David Jolly's like, I'm not a socialist, I'm a capitalist, which upsets me, because Democratic socialists are capitalists. But, you know, I would like to see them unite and come together like. Like we saw with Haley Stevens and Al Said in Michigan, or Lander and Bomdani, or, you know, you know what I'm talking about.

Absolutely.

Unity that I think we need to see, and I think that's important going forward in these elections.

I agree. All right, Democrats, they are expected to fight for other seats that were redrawn to favor Republicans. We've got Tampa. We got Rep. Kathy Castor, who's a Democrat, facing former state lawmaker Mike Beltran, while an empty seat in southern Florida, Pitts restaurant franchisee Casey Askar, who's a Republican, against Pia Dandia, who's a Democrat and happens to be a tech executive and former teacher. The GOP's best flip opportunity is likely to come in the Orlando area, where the Republican primary to take on Rep. Darren Soto was too close to call early Wednesday. And we're moving to another state. The power of Trump's endorsement. It took another blow after his preferred candidate in Wyoming's gubernatorial primary, Megan Jeggenfelder.

Degenfelder.

Degenfelder lost to State Senator Eric Barlow. Degenfelder, the state superintendent of Public instructions, secured Trump's endorsement before she even announced her campaign. But Barlow had years of experience in party leadership in the state legislature, as well as the cash advantage gubernatorial candidates in Iowa, Minnesota, South Carolina, and Georgia. They also lost GOP primaries despite Trump's backing those. That's huge.

Yeah, it was a bad night.

Governors are fucking important. In a deep red state like Wyoming, political fights are usually about how far right Republicans should go. State Rep. Rachel Rodriguez Williams, chair of the ultra conservative Wyoming Freedom Caucus. The, hint is in the name there. Accused Barlow of being insufficiently conservative during his time as House speaker and opposed his gubernatorial run. Others in Wyoming's right flank did well. On Tuesday, though, we got replaced. Harriet Hagerman. Nope, there's no R there.

Hageman. Hageman. We know. We know her.

Hageman. Harriet Hageman.

You can pick that up.

Trump's pick for Senate. Open Senate seat vacated by the retiring Senator Cynthia Loomis. Harriet won her race very, I mean handedly. Secretary of State Chuck Gray, aligned with the Freedom Caucus, won the crowded primary for the state's sole House seat. That was vacated by Hagman, probably Hagman, a, conservative, as we just spoke about, who unseated the fierce Republican Trump critic Liz Cheney, unfortunately, in 2022.

Yep, that's her. Now in a Pennsylvania special election. This is incredible. This is so incredible. Democrat Brandon Dukes held a narrow lead over Republican Scott Timko in a statehouse district that Trump carried by 18 percentage points. And the last Republican won by 30 points. He's ahead by 88 votes. The Democrat.

Yep.

Now, the district includes parts of Butler county close to the site where Trump was shot. That whole thing maybe during the ra. Tuesday's winner will complete the months left in the term of a lawmaker who stepped down. Dukes and Timco are also competing in November for a full term. Democrats have won, as we know, or overperformed expectations in special elections in the past year and a half, including an upset in Florida state legislative district that includes Mar A Lago. Remember when we learned that the state rep would be for Trump's Mar A Lago would be a Democrat. And in Alaska, probably my favorite race of the night, Senator Dan Sullivan and another Dan Sullivan and former Representative Mary Beltola advance to the general election. In Alaska's Senate race, the state's unusual ranked choice system means two additional candidates who finish lower in the primary will also make the general election ballot total of four. Okay. The top four vote getters will go on to November. But it remained unclear Wednesday morning who the final two candidates will be. Sullivan. Dan Sullivan, the incumbent senator, is one of the Democrats biggest targets this year in the bid to retake control of the Senate. Peltola, who was previously the state's sole House member, was recruited by Chuck Schumer from New York and has been an adept fundraiser. And like I said, I think the other Dan Sullivan. Remember where there were two Dan Sullivans? Yep.

And I think a third one popped up.

You can't be on the ballot. I can be on the ballot. And they finally decided he could be on the ballot. He got about two, two and a half percent of the vote. But this was, Peltola, I think, currently has 48 to the other Dan Sullivan's 43. So she's.

Oh, wow.

Okay, pretty, pretty far ahead there. But we'll see how that holds up in the. In the ranked choice voting in November and in the special election to replace Eric Swalwell, Progressive Candidate Aisha Wahab is holding a narrow 5149 lead over Melissa Hernandez with only, about 62% of the votes counted. So.

All right, thank you so much, Allison. Up next. This is from the Post. Looks like Defense Secretary Pete Kegseth on Monday is traveling to Iowa in his end, I quote, personal capacity. That's what the Pentagon said in a statement, further fueling speculation that the former Fox News personality is mulling a run for president at some point. The visit, reported earlier by CBS News, comes five months after Kegseth was scheduled to appear at a political rally and fundraising event with Rep. Zach Nunn, who happens to be Republican from Iowa, who, by the way, is running for reelection this year. That trip was postponed after several US Troops from Iowa were killed early in the war in Iran. In response to the questions, the Pentagon said in a statement that it does not proactively announce events that KSETH attends. In his personal capacity. Hexeth will take a US funded military aircraft to Iowa.

Really?

If you're in your personal capacity, why don't you fucking take Southwest Airlines, dude?

They won't let him.

I know he is doing so because he is, and I quote, designated as a required use traveler by the US Government and is mandated to use military aircraft for all travel, both official and unofficial, due to the continuous need for secure communications. Even though he doesn't fucking follow that because he likes the text on signal.

Take your signal app on your friggin iPhone 12. Southwest Airlines.

Seriously, if that's the reason you're saying he's already broken it. They're saying due to the continuous need for secure communications and responsive transportation for national security.

Get out of here. Officials familiar with Kegsest thinking believe that he is considering a run for president or some other political office after his time in the Trump administration's over. The travel to Iowa, a presidential campaign proving ground. It fits that pattern, one of those officials said Monday, speaking on the condition of anonymity, just to be candid.

Oh, man. That 2028 ticket is going to be,

a fucking UFC fight card.

Are they going to weigh in? Are they going to have weigh ins?

I think they should. And also check their testosterone before they're allowed to run.

Yeah, they need hormone testing. Yeah, definitely. And it wouldn't be Tuesday without a taco. No. This is from the Associated Press. President Donald Trump said Tuesday night he's delaying the 50% U.S. tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian after the two countries, quote, reached a last minute deal less than, quote, two hours before the Sanctions were to go into effect. The announcement, which Trump made from his social media platform, buys time for more negotiations. The announcement is set to manipulate the markets and head off actual tariffs right before they happen. That's what the announcement was about. But anyway, I'm sorry, it goes. It goes on to say here that, it buys more time for negotiations and avoids for now another strain and an already tense relationship between the historic allies. Quote, I've paused the 50% tariffs against Canada. Everyone was shocked, Dana. Everyone was so shocked.

They were scheduled to kick in tomorrow morning for a three day period based on the fact that Canada, the usa, subject to the finalization of documents, have a deal. that's what Trump put on Truth Social. And if you think. Anyway, you know what? No one listening to this show thinks he ever has any deals, so I'm not worried about y'.

All.

If they had gone into effect as scheduled at 1201 on Wednesday, Trump's import taxes would have hit Canadian products ranging from hockey sticks to tongue depressors.

All right, well, speaking of depressors, this one is from the Post. U.S. attorney General. U.S. attorney. Thank God, not Attorney General. U.S. attorney Jeanine Pierrot slammed the federal judge's decision Monday to order the release of a woman accused of vandalizing The World War II memorial in Washington last week. And I quote, if anyone is a flight risk, it's certainly her. That was Pirro. DC's top prosecutor. Really top. Okay. The Justice Department had asked that Melissa L. Ferris, happens to be 41, be held in pre trial detention, saying it recovered evidence from her phone that showed that she was searching online for bus and airline tickets on the evening the incident occurred.

Okay, can I just, Can I just say something here? Like, she had the Bail and Reform Act. The Bail Reform Act a long time ago, right?

And the idea is to not keep people in jail if you don't have to.

Yeah.

And they are. Jeanine Pirro is trying to keep in prison someone who tagged a wall.

Yep.

For like you have to be a violent. Anyway, please keep going. This is insane.

I know. Court records also say that Ferris had purchased dish soap and spray paint shortly before the incident and had been cited days earlier for canc camping on federal property. And this is a quote. In what world does it make sense to release a defendant charged with two federal felonies who has no ties to this community, holds a Kentucky driver's license, has no home address, has been camping in Washington for several weeks immediately after the crime, searched for flights to Michigan Then traveled to Virginia and claims to have friends in Ohio. That's what Piro said.

Okay. Virginia is, like, four minutes away from D.C. yeah. Okay.

The only problem there, by the way, Faris turned herself in right after she vandalized the memorial. That cuts against Pyrrho arguing that she's a bite risk.

Pyrrho's looking through her phone. We've got evidence. We got receipts from Walmart that she bought spray paint and soap. We got her dad. Oh, she turned herself in.

Oh, yeah. She's like, yeah. This spray paint, this key. Yes. As part of Ferris release, Magistrate Judge Matthew, Scharbaugh ordered her to stay away from the memorial and said she must report to federal pretrial officials in Ohio by Thursday. So there's a preliminary hearing. It's set for September 3rd.

Oh, my God. Janine Pirro, for serious? Yep. Like, if you want to. We're going to go over this, by the way, on this weekend's episode of Unjustified, but in order to hold someone in pretrial detention like that, they have to be a violent offender. A serious flight risk. Like, not a flight to Ohio. Like, yeah. And Janine's like, I can't even understand. It's like, yeah, that's because you didn't read the bail Reform Act, I guess. It's just so bonkers. And then she's like, we got all this evidence. Look, it's her.

She needs a conviction more than anything right now.

We all. We all know it's her. She turned herself in. Ma', am. Ma', am, this is a Wendy's.

Ma'.

Am. Ma', am. Ma', am.

Ma'. Am. Bye. Bye. Okay, everybody, we got good news we have to get to, but we have to take a quick break, so stick around. We'll be right back after these messages.

We'll be right back.

I think your good news will bring me healing vibes. All right, first up is your good trouble. Good trouble today is an anonymous listener who wrote in. Hi, lovely ladies. The legumes. I'm trying to find the government comment page for the National Park Service so that we could all write in and comment on the proposed destruction of installing roads into multiple national parks. It was mentioned briefly in an episode, but I didn't see a link for it for it in the public comment section. I've looked and looked, and I can't find it. If you guys could, and maybe you could mention it on the air tomorrow, it bring me great joy you're a much better researcher than I am and I've looked for a long time now. So thank you so much. I appreciate everything you do. Producer has a note. We are happy to help. Anonymous from the USDA last year U.S. department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rawlins announced a proposed rule and draft environmental Impact statement that recommends removing the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule and it'll be published in the Federal Register and It publishes today, August 20th. The 30 day comment period for the proposed rule and draft environmental statement ends midnight September 21, 2026. So we're going to have a link to the USDA page with more information on how and where to comment on on the rule change. And According to the Five Calls app, Trump's plan to repeal the roadless rule, it would open 45 million acres of national forests, including iconic destinations like California's Tahoe National Forest, Alaska's Tongass National Forest, and the Appalachian Trail. It would open it up to logging and road construction. The removal of these long standing protections for development will increase wildfire risk, threaten wildlife habitats, and degrade watersheds that provide clean drinking water. America's public lands belong to us. Congress should reject this attempt to roll back long standing protections of our national forests and preserve these lands for future generations. And we'll have more information from them@fivecalls.org with a bunch of slashes. There's a link in the show notes that you can click on. Thank you so much Anonymous for bringing this up. That's, you know, they want to just pave paradise and put up a parking lot basically.

Thanks Ag. This one's from Tammy. Pronouns she and her hello Ag and dg I'm spending my second summer working in Yellowstone national park and I'm loving it. It gets me out of hotter than hell Houston for six months. I listen to you each morning to touch base with the craziness outside of my Yellowstone bubble. I'm lucky to have seen so many animals in my time here. I've included two examples. A baby moose I just saw this past weekend and a photo of me with a bison outside of my cabin taken by a coworker in late June. Hope these make you and all the Leguminati smile today. Thank you for all you do. Look how cute a baby moose is.

I don't see the bison photo. It must not have uploaded properly. But this baby moose, it is adorable. Oh, they're big. By the way, if you ever see. Dude, have you ever seen a moose? Man, that's huge. All right, next up from Judith Pronoun, she and her to Allison and Dana from the home of the emergency naked bike ride and the goats on public transit. The good news is that I want to share is about the appearance of the giant crows on the streets of Portland, Oregon. They are beautiful and heartwarming to come across as you head to work or out for a stroll. The project is called Wildwood Follow the Crows and and at the end of the exhibit the crows are to be sold with the money going to support local children's hospital. Oh man. So there's going to be a link in the show notes to the thing the Follow the Crows exhibition. Oh wow. They're beautiful.

Yeah.

Is that a Bob's Big Boy crow?

I mean it looks a little like one, but I don't think so. It's amazing.

It's got a red checkered shirt and blue pants. That's why.

Super cute.

Thank you so much.

All right, next up from Kay. No pronouns given. I always wondered why you guys invoked Liz Fair in your intro song before every episode, but figured, what do I know? Maybe they're super fans. Now thanks to the question from your listener Mike today, I know it's actually news with swearing, which to be fair, makes a lot more sense for my podbet tax. I'm sending a picture of a funny sign I saw taped to the doors of an out of service elevator in my building a while back. You can see and feel the exasperation of the annoyed employee who was tired of hearing complaints about literally says how to use the stairs.

It's just step one, step two, yay, you're at the top. Oh, reminds me of good old Mitch Hedberg. An escalator can never break down. It can only become stairs.

There you go.

You'll never see a escalator out of order sign. Just sorry you can still get up there. Sorry for the convenience. All right, next up from Clay pronouns, he and him. Heya Beans Queens. I'm an artist in Cleveland, Ohio. You've twice read my emails now and I want to shout out my love. Alyssa. She runs what she used to call a driveway nursery and now she calls it a micro farm, a business she runs out of her driveway in Cleveland's nearest suburb. She's amazing and works harder than anyone I know. This is a year round operation she does solo. I mix her dirt and keep her moving. We do farmer's markets and open house plant sales and she has everything. Natives, herbs, veggies, flowers and succulents. I don't have a pic of her cats. So here's my Moby again. Thanks for all you do, Clay. This is incredible. I'm curious about the suburb because, you know, I grew up in Akron.

Mm.

Well, Talmadge, which is a suburb of a suburb of Akron. But look at the kitty. Hi, Moby. Look at that nursery. It's beautiful.

It's beautiful.

Oh, that's wonderful, Clay. Thank you for sending that in.

Yep. All right, next up from Erin Pronoun. She and her dear Ag and dg. Good trouble with a little good news. I was a fifth generation country girl from North Dakota. I never thought I'd leave North Dakota. It was a place I felt in my bones. Recently, my family and I relocated to Minnesota because of the increasingly hostile social and political environment in North Dakota. As a small town lawyer that represented a lot of folks leaving abusive marriages, I received death threats on the regular. In, North Dakota, law enforcement did nothing. The general small town mentality was that I deserved it for being outspoken about gaps in the enforcement of domestic violence laws. Since relocating to Minnesota, I have taken on that mantle in a new way. And the reception here has been unbelievable. I'm so happy that I was able to make this transition for my family, my clients. I won't say I don't miss some things about North Dakota. The smell of farm soil right after planting. The wide open spaces. A connection with people in the reservation adjacent to my hometown. But on the whole, Minnesota has been wonderful for my pod pet tariff. This is Luna. Luna was born a barn cat in North Dakota, and she had been our faithful mouser for about 10 years. Here she is in her new backyard in the countryside. In the Minnesota countryside, once again, a country girl cat. Always a country girl cat surveying her kingdom. She occasionally allows me to pet her and may crawl up into my lap on a cold night. But mostly, she's happiest when she patrols her territory and keeps our two dogs in line. She is irreplaceable. And I could make a full time job out of just watching her little kitty. Best to maintain the rodent population around the house. Second photo of the dogs. One is a blank and blank and one is rescued. And we have no idea what he is, so we just call him a sasshole. He's both sassy and a little bit asshole. Keep fighting the good fight. Minnesota is holding its own.

Okay, there's a poodle in there.

And maybe, I don't know, I can't see it close enough, but I don't know, it looks. Yeah, I can't either sassole.

The cat's gorgeous and so is your whole yard and deck and area where you're living. That's really beautiful. there, it looks like sunset. And thanks for doing the work that you do as a DV survivor. those gaps in law enforcement are real. They're real. And so thank you for doing the work that you're doing.

Definitely.

oh, let's look. We've got the mix is a border collie poodle. So I got, the poodle part.

There you go.

And the other one's just a sasshole, like you said.

Love it.

All right, next up from eb Queens of the beans. On Tuesday's show, a listener wrote in about bloat, bacon, lettuce, onion, avocado and tomato sandwich. I'm writing about my favorite more co worker friendly sandwich, the Blast. Bacon, lettuce, avocado, Swiss and tomato. Although these days, Ibi, I don't know if you want to put lettuce on something and call it the Blast. Just my two cents, but that sounds super delicious. For good news, I received a significant raise at work this year. Enough to afford a new car. Mostly on the raise itself. Congratulations. My poor but still spirited 20 year old car will be disappointed in the near ish future. But c' est la vie. I got my money's worth out of it and then some. for my pod pet tariff, I'll give you a very statically challenged boba.

Oh, my God.

What is he?

Oh my God.

I don't know. Something with blank dog parts. We're guessing he's our sunshine boy. This dog.

I mean, listen without all the static. It looks like a shih tzu mix.

It looks like a shih tzu. Cocker spaniel. Could be schnauzer. Could be wheaten. Terrier.

Could be terrier.

There is so many things. Let's see.

It is so cute though.

Terrier, shih tzu.

Look, there you go.

I think if we just name all the breeds that we're familiar with, we're

gonna get it right.

We're gonna get it right at some point. It's a game of numbers. It's a game of numbers.

I love this next story. This is from Gen Pronoun, she and her. I love what this is unearthed with our beans listeners. Alison, in talking with Dane about roller skating, you mentioned that you used to go to skateland. And in a time it took me to think. Me too. There must be a bunch named that you said in Mesa, Arizona, which is the actual Same Skate land I went to, too. Grew up in Mesa. Went to Rhodes Junior High and Dobson High, class of 93, and was wondering just how much overlap there might be other than going to Skateland, golf land, Big surf and Fiesta Mall, which is now rubble. Womp, womp. Anyway, these days I'm up in Seattle working with folks who are unstably housed and living in their vehicles, keeping them as safe and legal as possible when they're in their vehicles and helping them to find more stability when they're ready. So the winding road from Mesa, Arizona, brought me here to do this. Sharing Josephine March. Kitty. Our, little baby Jojo, as we call her around here. She always looks mildly irritated with me, but I don't mind.

Oh, my God, that cat is.

She does. What the fuck are you looking at? Little Jojo's like, what?

All right.

Cleaning myself.

All right, Jen. Yeah, Skateland now. I was class of 92. I did have a friend named Jenny that I went to school with, but I don't think she went to Rhodes. I went to a school called. Called Jordan elementary, and it was on Carriage Lane between Elliot and Guadalupe. I would have gone to Hendricks Junior High and I would have gone to Dobson, but I ended up going to Catholic school on and off, and it ended up at Xavier. But I don't know if you're the same Jenny. I was thinking about that Jenny the other day. She had, like, brown, wavy hair and glasses. Anyway, glad to hear you're up in Seattle. Big surf is incredible. I saw Red Hot Chili peppers there in 89. I think Golfland we went to. That was what Waterloo was in Bill and Ted's excellent adventure when they went down the water slides with Napoleon. And I don't know if a lot of people know this, but the bowling alley they went to was. I think it was called Apache bowl, but it was on rural and the freeway, up near the Denny's right there, where we would stay up late at night and sneak out of the house. Fiesta Mall. Spent my life there.

That's amazing.

Oh, the 80s, Jen. Thank you for that trip down memory lane. And everybody, please send your good news in. It's making me feel better. I'm already feeling the healing vibes. Send it all to us dailybeanspod.com and click on Contact. Any final thoughts today, my friend?

Not today.

All right, we're gonna get out of here. We're gonna record some beans talk. You don't want to miss it today. And you don't want to miss what? This. We're going to show you the video of what Darlene, whatever her last name is, Graham said, during her debate. That's thrown the whole world into like, a big WTF moment.

Yeah.

So we'll see you there. And we'll be back here tomorrow as well. Until then, please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take care of the planet, take care of your mental health and take care of your family. I've been ag. I've been dg and them's the Beans.
