The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered the district court to reinstate Missouri's gerrymandered Republican map. But he says before. Before you freak out, he says, because I. I did when I read that Steve Vladic is always good at saying before you freak out, he likes to talk us off the ledge. It also ordered the court to pause such a ruling for long enough that the challengers can and will seek further review from the Supreme Court. Okay, so it's an order, but it's on hold. So the map is still on hold while the voting rights activists can go to the Supreme Court and see what happens.

No, me neither. But we'll see what happens. All right, everybody, we have a lot of news to get to today. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot ah, notes. All right. From the Post. News organizations responded strenuously Monday to Trump's decision to ban CNN, msNow, and Politico from the White House. They filed lawsuit in federal court Monday morning, banding together to halt video coverage of the future president until further notice. Those are two separate things, by the way. In the suit filed in federal district court in Washington, CNN, Ms. now and Politico are alleging violations of the news outlet's First Amendment, free press rights and due process rights under the Fifth Amendment. They are requesting that a federal judge hear the case on an expedited basis. Soon after the lawsuit was announced, abc, cbs, Fox News and NBC said they will halt television coverage of presidential events, according to a memo obtained by the Washington Post over the White House's ban of cnn, which is one of the five members of the White House television pool. The Post on Monday shared it will not publish any photographs of the day's presidential events, including Trump's departure from the White House and his events at the United nations in New York, until midnight Eastern, joining a collective effort with photographers in other newsrooms covering the White House in a show of support for the banned outlet. This is to advise that effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the president. That's Brian Boten. He's the Fox News Washington bureau chief and chair of the TV pool. That's what he wrote in a memo to the White House Press corps that was obtained by the Post. There will be no replacement pool put in place. All other pool coverage will continue as normal, including Congress, VIPs and selected events in Washington and around the country. In a joint statement Monday, five members of the rotating TV pool wrote, the public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting. The three banned organizations further allege that the White House's decision Friday to revoke their credentials was because it objected to our reporting left unchallenged. This threatens press freedom and the public's right to independent journalism, free from government interference. The pool is a way for the networks to split the hefty costs of following the president around with TV cameras. That's why they call it the pool. They're pooling the costs. The assigned network records and distributes a live feed that other news outlets can carry. Without a TV pooler. There will be scant video coverage of Trump unless the news outlets take their own video or use feeds provided by the White House. The plaintiffs, represented by First Amendment lawyer Theodore Boutros Jr. Asked a federal judge to halt the bans and restore access. The case was assigned to U.S. district Judge Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee to the federal bench. But don't freak out, as, Steve Vladik would say. That is the judge who oversaw Jim Acosta's legal battle to restore his press credentials in 2018. Kelly granted CNN's motion for a temporary restraining order in that case. After that, the White House let Acosta back in, and CNN dropped its litigation. The judge has set a hearing for tomorrow, Wednesday at 3:30pm local time.
It is nice to see some solidarity with the press. I just wish it was, you know, for our democracy instead. this is from The Associated Press. U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement has stopped publicly revealing where it is holding thousands of detainees who are subject to final deportation orders, an unannounced move that has made it far more difficult for lawyers and relatives to find them. And this is according to current and former officials familiar with the practice. ICE removed those detainees from its online detainee locator system on September 15th. That's according to three current and former ICE officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the change. Several lawyers contacted by the Associated Press confirmed their clients vanished from the system this week, and the American Immigration Lawyers association warned its members about the situation on Friday. The move represents a stark departure from previous practice and highlights the hardline nature that Donald Trump's immigration immigration crackdown, leaving thousands of detainees exceedingly hard to trace and potentially unable to exercise all of their legal options. The practice, which applies to detainees who have received final orders of removal from an immigration court, could speed deportations by making last minute legal challenges hard to pursue. Immigration lawyers, that's what they're saying now. Nearly 16,000 people who were arrested and booked into ICE detention in July were subject to final removal orders, more than a third of the overall booking, according to ICE data obtained by the Deportation Data Project, based at UC Berkeley and ucla. The practice does not apply to detainees held at a detention facility in Adelanto, California, or at, temporary holding facilities in Minneapolis, New York, or suburban Chicago. Judges have ordered ICE to list detainees in those facilities in the online locator promptly upon their arrival as part of litigation over their detention practices.
This is very scary, especially when you couple that with the news that they're trying to remove some of the protections for vulnerable human research subjects like prisoners. Yeah, and if you can't locate these folks, I mean, first of all, you're crushing their due process rights, which they are granted by the Constitution. Whether you're a citizen or not, you are protected by the Constitution. I am assuming there will be more lawsuits about this. Potentially a class action, hopefully a nationwide injunction and more ICE news from ABC 7. In Illinois, Evanston police say they're investigating an incident after a man was beat in an encounter with federal agents in a case of mistaken identity. Police said that when officers arrived, they found a man on the ground with injuries to his head, neck and teeth. While responding, another Evanston officer encountered two ICE SUVs, supposedly ICE, in the area. Police said someone stepped out of the SUV wearing plain clothes and a vest marked Police with federal law enforcement markings. The man identified himself as a federal agent conducting a fugitive investigation. Sounds like fake ICE to me. Evanston police said the agents were trying to identify an individual who looked like the person they were seeking. This was a black man, by the way. Evanston police said the federal agents later determined he was not the person they were looking for, and he is a US Citizen, and so he was released. And when they say released, he was left bleeding in the street. A federal agent told police that they left the area because protesters began to gather and they feared they'd be attacked, so they just left him there. Police later met with the man who had been detained. He was at a local hospital. Evanston police documented his injuries, and they're investigating the incident. Anyone with information or videos is urged to contact the Evanston Police Department. This is in Illinois, and we do have an update on the man that ICE shot in Austin. This is from NBC. Immigration attorney Kate. Lincoln Goldfinch identified him, the man who was shot, as Wilbur Rafael garces Perez. He's 28 and said he was an asylum seeker who entered the country through a parole program. Lincoln Goldfinch, the lawyer, told NBC News she learned Monday morning that Garces Perez was being held in ICE custody at the South Texas ICE Processing center in Pearsall, Texas. He was shot at while making a doordash delivery. according to Lincoln Goldfinch's office, there was still a bullet in him when ICE took him out of the hospital. He was then forced into the ICE detention center and made to sleep on the floor. Lincoln Goldfinch says that Garces Perez told her they had not given him any pain medication and they were interrogating him instead.

The White House has begun drafting a new executive order that could further cement President Trump's ability to control billions of dollars in scientific grants and expand the administration's pressure campaign against Elite universities discussed at a highly contentious meeting at the White House on Friday. The order aims to create a new external committee with the power to veto awards in the National Institutes of Health's vast research portfolio that do not conform to Donald's political agenda, according to people with knowledge of the effort. During the meeting, Trump repeatedly complained about his administration's failure to bring Harvard University in particular, to heal. The administration has been unable to hammer out a deal with the nation's oldest and wealthiest university, essential plank of his broader push against an I quote, woke ideology in higher education. Fuck off. If the order moves forward, it would mark the latest attempt by the Trump administration to usurp the scientific Autonomy of the NIH. It's a $48 billion agency. They distribute a majority of its budget to labs across the country for research into areas such as heart disease, cancer, and infectious dise diseases. Traditionally, the NIH selects projects based on expert review of their scientific merit. But Donald has sought through a series of recent directives in his second term to bring that process under political review, arguing in part that the government has been funding woke liberal priorities. Like science, like health, like medicine.
Imagine that Donald Trump wants to have political oversight over science.

Donald Trump on Sunday said his proposed 250 foot arch will now be a top grade military complex that will house drones, snipers and ammo. And he said that in a social media post that raised new questions about the controversial project. Trump wrote on Truth Social he agreed to convert the arch at the strong request of the US Military for national security purposes. This exact same argument he's made in the ballroom case. By the way, the Trump administration plans to bring they're going to begin construction on the arch as soon as November amid resistance from military veterans, advocacy groups and historic preservationists who say the towering structure will overshadow the nearby cemetery and it's too large for the site. A federal judge is weighing whether to halt the project. Critics also questioned the practicality of building a military complex in the center of a widely used traffic circle not far from Reagan National Airport.

yeah. Now, Trump's new claims about the arch resemble his arguments for the need to build the ballroom. As I said, Trump initially said the ballroom was needed to entertain guests, but more recently, he's changed his tune and said it's desperately needed national security structure. That argument also has become m central to the administration's legal claims that the ballroom must be built so Anticipating a legal challenge to the arch, Donald Trump is coming out and saying it's a military complex in the middle of a traffic circle near an airport and the cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial.

Kennedy, Jr. Is not, getting any sort of a spine, against this administration when they're about to destroy one of their family's historical sites. Because he likes the perks. This is from the Wall street journal. Health Secretary RFK Jr. Received more than $250,000 worth of free flights to Fiji and Greece, as well as use of a vacation home in Washington, D.C. all were gifts from Gavin Debecker, a security consultant and supporter. The 2025 gifts were reported by Kennedy in his annual financial ethics disclose. Wow. That's shocking. Which was amended this week.

And obtained by the Wall Street Journal through a records request.

They included nearly $45,000 round trip airfare to Greece and almost 97,000 in round trip flights to Fiji, where De Becker own.

A spokeswoman for Kennedy said he complies with all federal ethics rules and requirements and has worked with HHS ethics officials on his disclosures. Debecker, a security specialist known for protecting Jeff Bezos, Madonna, and other VIP clients, provided security services to Kennedy and was a major donor to Kennedy's 2024 campaign. Kennedy's filing offers a glimpse at the secretary's personal wealth. He has disclosed holding bitcoin worth between 1 million and 5 million, a vacation home worth between 1 million and 5 million, and his residence in Los Angeles is worth between 5 and 25 million. What? What? Why? Why? Between 5 and 25 million. That's a big fucking difference. Between 1 and 5 million is a big fucking range.
Yeah.
So he's either worth $7 million, everybody, or he's worth $40 million. By the way, he disclosed three mortgages. The filing also shows that Kennedy holds credit card debt with the reported range between $125,000 and $265,000 less than the more than 600,000 he owed when he filed last year. So somebody's paying off his credit card debt. The Health secretary reported receiving two book advances for 2 million each. For his books Unset A Defense for Israel. Are you kidding me? He owed a third advance worth less than 15,000 for his forthcoming book titled America's Path Back to Moral leadership. Wow.
Two million for unsettled science. Two million for a defense for Israel. But he's only getting 15 GS. 15 large for America's pathback to moral leadership.

Some random thoughts for the good news. First, it occurred to me that ag, capital A lowercase G is the atomic symbol for silver. And you have Dana Goldberg. And we want a blue wave. So the Bad Company lyrics give me silver, blue and gold. My rainbow is overdue. Certainly fit yes, it does. Or silver and gold. And the rest of the lyrics could fit many disillusioned Trump voters. Second, regarding the peacock hair from Wednesday's show, you asked about bleaching. I don't know about her case specifically. Our daughter has a vibrant hair color since middle school, at least during the summers when it didn't matter to the school. And yes, she had to have it bleached because she's a brunette. She's gone from having it all done by a professional to having the cut and bleach done professionally. And doing the color herself. Lately, she's bright red but attached as a photo from years ago and she did all the color herself. She also has great artistic talent. Yeah, not much of a surprise when you see the hair. I'll present as proof a 10 year old middle school study of girl with a pearl earring. I'll save more recent accomplishments for future submissions. No, I am not a proud girl, dad, or anything. About a month ago, I needed to get a new National Parks pass. And remember that I now qualify for the senior lifetime pass. Yeah. I was so very glad when at first somebody reported that all new passports would come with Donald Trump's face on it or something.
