msw media. Hello and welcome to the Daily beans for Friday, October 30, 2026. Today, a federal judge has denied the Justice Department's bid to sequester 20,000 ballots in California. The people behind the fake transgender mailers and text messages in Texas have been revealed. Pete Hegseth has fired the Pentagon's chief planner as action against Iran looms. The Republican governor of Alaska has ordered a criminal investigation into the Mary Peltola campaign. Russian disinformation videos are targeting Democrats in key battleground states. A federal appeals court is skeptical of the pre election ice surge and polymarket were hacked Thursday and billions were drained from accounts. And Donald Trump has canceled his Kansas rally to hold virtual events. I'm Alison Gill.

And I'm Dana Goldberg.

Just a totally normal news day.

It is. And by virtual events, do we mean AI events? Because I would be very interested to see what a virtual event looks like for him as a rally. Because it's just going to be a speech.

Yeah, I mean, you know, we can wonder if it's because he's feeling old and sick or if it's because they're pulling him off the trail or because he won't be helpful or because they think they've lost Kansas. I mean, there's also. I mean, it

could be all of them we've lost Kansas.

Could be all of the above. We'll know in, a few short days. It is Fugal Sang Fridays on the Daily Beans. So joining me later will be John Fugalsang, as you know, as the host of the John Fugal sang show on SiriusXM. Progress. And congrats to the Brewers.

Yay.

They won the World Series for the first time in the history of the franchise. And I know Bob Uecker is looking down from somewhere super happy and academic. Research shows that incumbents or the incumbent party does better in elections when local sports teams are winning. So vote blue Wisconsin.

There you go. Giving it up on wnba. We have a tied series, which is awesome. It's tied. Yeah, four to four. And it's going back to Valhalla in San Francisco, the Bay Area. So either way, history is going to be made. I don't think either of these teams have ever won. and it's. I don't know, it's just. It's been really fun to watch. And they made game. What is this? Game six down in, Atlanta. And they fucking did it at 12:30 in the afternoon, Eastern, 9:30 Pacific, which is such bullshit. They still sold out the arena because people watch and, support women's sports. It's a beautiful thing.

Hell yeah. Go Valks. All right. Also this breaking news. Following an order from a Travis county judge in Texas, the Republican Women's Caucus fund, the rwc, and a man named John Braun, possibly the Republican candidate for Congress in Washington state. Those are the people identified as the names behind the controversial text messages sent to Texans earlier this month purporting to offer resources for transgender students. Yeah, and this confirms widespread speculation that the effort was a Republican political ploy. Some 3 million mailers containing similar information were also sent. So that. That came from, as we predicted, Republicans, namely the Republican Women's Caucus and somebody named John Braun. So, you know,

just horrible people. I mean, really horrible people. And I. I mean, I know we have so many trans and non binary listeners and parents of. And I can only imagine how fucking exhausted you are and how much you were looking forward to this midterm being over. So maybe people will stop using you as a political pawn. And I'm just. We're so sorry. Like, I don't know what else to say. You know, I'm fighting for you. You know, Allison's fighting for you. But I can imagine you must be fucking tired.

Yeah. Yeah. For real. And just this kind of underhanded shit. And then for them to be all, oh, Mary Peltola's ex campaign person went out to find another Dan Sullivan to confuse Alaskans. It's. It's like, come on.

Yeah,

accuse your opponent of that, which you are guilty, I guess. But speaking of Mary Paltola, we've got some news on that and, a bunch of other news too. Let's hit the hot notes.

Hot notes.

All right, first up from the Times. Alaska's governor on Wednesday night said he was ordering an investigation into whether Mary Peltol is campaigned for Senate should face criminal charges or civil penalties over its role in recruiting candidates to draw votes from the state's Republican incumbent. The announcement by Governor Mike Dunleavy, a Republican, followed a New York Times report that was full of shit detailing the Peltola campaign's involvement in recruiting a retiree named Dan Sullivan to enter the race against Dan Sullivan. But proving that crime is going to be difficult. State leaders had tried earlier this year to remove Dan Sullivan from the ballot. The other one. But the Alaska Supreme Court ruled that nothing in state law or the Constitution, but nothing in state law allowed it to rule on the motives of a candidate. There's no law against it. And Peltola, the campaign, not herself, but her campaign is hardly the first political committee on either side of the aisle to engage in ballot stacking. Ballot stacking is what the name for. It happens so often. There's a name for it. Ballot stacking. That's putting people on the ballot to siphon votes from your opponent. John Feiglsang and I are gonna discuss that further a bit later in the show.

All right, thanks, A.G. and this one's from CNN. U.S. defense Secretary Pete Kegseth has fired the Pentagon's top planning officer. What could possibly go wrong as Donald Trump weighs new strikes against Iran, According to a defense official and another source familiar with the matter, Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, who held the role of Director for Strategy, Plans and Policy, also known as j. Joint Chiefs of Staff, was abruptly dismissed for alleged misconduct. This is what the defense official said, claiming he is in the subject of an investigation for allegedly leaking classified information. Very sorry about my voice right now, everybody. A spokesman for Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Kane, meanwhile, confirmed Sylvia's ouster in an initial statement to cnn. The spokesperson said, cain and the Joint Staff extend their deepest gratitude to Sylvia for 32 years of service, wishing him the best going forward. The spokesperson for Cain later revised that earlier statement. Quote, upon further review, we determined that the statement did not appropriately reflect the full circumstances around Sylvia's departure. Yes. CNN has reached out to Sylvia directly for comment. It's unclear who will take over his responsibilities. Sylvia's removal comes as a crucial time. Crucial time for the Pentagon, as CNN reported. Two U.S. officials told CNN earlier this week that U.S. forces in the Middle east are prepared to launch new, potentially major military operations against Iran within 96 hours of receiving an order from Trump.

All right, what do you want to bet Dan Cain's office was like, oh, he was great. Fantastic. Deep gratitude. And then they got a phone call. No, no, no, no, no. We don't like him. We don't like him.

That's probably what happened. I'm actually shocked that they're talking about this, what, three days before the midterms? I mean, this is one of the reasons why our gas is so.

I know, I know. And they want to continue and escalate with major strikes. Next up from the Associated Press. Social media videos believed to be produced with artificial intelligence linked to Russia are misusing real people's names and photographs to spread disinformation about two Democratic state Senate candidates in the final stretch of midterm voting. This has been happening, but now there's more. One of the targets is Sherrod Brown, who's running against John Husted in Ohio. The video, which appears to include some AI manipulation, depicts a newscast and includes pictures of Haya Akbeek, who interned for Brown several years ago, and other former staff members. It was appalling to Ackbeek, the actual person who told the Associated Press that any claims attributed to her in the clip are completely made up. Quote, it's my name, it's my reputation making this allegation, and it's completely false, and it harms the senator, someone else in the process. So it's just messed up the other target. You got it. James Talarico. He's running against Ken Paxton for Senate in Texas. The video, also believed to include some AI manipulation, is framed as a direct to, camera confessional from a former student of Talarico. Quote, the most powerful people in the world know they can't beat James Talarico with the truth, so they're slandering him with AI deepfakes, foreign bots, and conspiracy theories to protect their broken, corrupt political system. That's a TalaRico spokesperson, JT Ennis in a statement. The social media company Twitter actually took down the initial posts that shared these videos and suspended the users for violating Elon Musk's terms of use. Do you know how up you have to be to violate Elon Musk's rules?

Yeah, seriously.

I mean, my goodness. But by then, they'd already been shared a bunch of times, so. Just wanted to bring it to your attention. Watch out for deep fakes.

All right, thanks, ag. This one's from the Post. President Trump will no longer travel to Kansas, as we said, for a rally on Saturday, as previously announced. Instead, he's holding a series of tele rallies that day, according to four people with knowledge of his plans. I'm telling you, they're gonna be A.I. trump was originally scheduled to visit Salina, Kansas, on Saturday, one of the final stops in his packed schedule of midterm rallies to boost Republican candidates. While Republicans are worried about losing the seat as incumbent GOP Senator Roger Marshall is locked in a close race with his Democratic challenger and is trailing in some polls, Trump will instead hold a telerally, per Marshall. I don't even know what that means.

Is it like when. Like during COVID when we used to do, like, comedy sets on Zoom?

Is it gonna be on Facebook Live? Like, what the fuck are we doing now? The GOP has been scrambling to drum up enthusiasm from its base as Trump and Republican candidates face poor approval ratings among swing voters. Campaigns were pressing for Trump to hold rallies in their states in the final stret. This is what three people said. And of course they spoke on the condition of anonymity. Now the President's team, by the way, instead opted to schedule a number of tele rallies. Trump is still set to travel to Daytona Beach, Florida on Friday and to Dubuque, Iowa on Sunday. Now on Thursday, he traveled to Rock Hill, South Carolina. Well, the trip to Kansas would have accounted for a substantial stretch of time in the final weekend before the elections compared to holding virtual events for candidates in multiple states. Said one person with knowled of the change.

Sure. That's why

also, I bet they don't want five people showing up to. I bet you there was some sort of an attendance thing where they could tell how many people requested tickets for these rallies and it was abysmal. Like abysmal,

huh? Uh-huh. Plus you got like our friend Cliff Cash encouraging people to go to these rallies to heckle the President.

Yeah,

I bet there was some sort of big

oh I, I bet you

thing organized in Kansas to do that. We're going to talk about some of those heckles over on Beans Talk today from Politico. A federal judge Wednesday denied the Trump administration's last ditch attempt to force California to screen thousands 20,000 ballots from purported non citizens based on data that state officials say is riddled with errors. Yeah, errors. How about 0 out of 16,800 and something in Nevada? Errors?

Geez.

US District Judge David Carter said the administration's demand that California set aside 20,000 ballots threatens to disenfranchise thousands of citizens and disrupt the constitutional requirement for states to control their own elections. Quote, if the executive can discount votes and threaten an ongoing election due to unproven allegations, then our democracy is in danger. That's what Carter said. Judge Carter, a Clinton appointee, that's what he wrote in a ruling that swept aside The Justice Department's 11th hour move to impose new procedures in the state. Quote, the executive's requested relief would wreak havoc and disrupt the election that is already underway, create a chilling effect on election workers and voters alike and discount the votes of United States citizens. That's what the LA based judge wrote. This rebuke is the latest legal setback for Trump's efforts to exert more control over the way states vet registered voters and count ballots. The administration has spent the final weeks before the midterms focused on the threat of non citizen voters despite scant evidence. And scant is doing some heavy lifting there. It's like.00,00007%. Scant evidence of widespread abuse and warnings from civic groups that the crackdown is a pretext to spook legitimate voters who may fear being targeted. Judge Carter said the administration's demands of California would disproportionately threaten the votes of naturalized citizens who might erroneously be labeled non citizens. And that's really the, the crux of this whole thing, right?

Yeah.

The judge also criticized the administration's rhetoric aimed at election workers, suggesting they could be subject to prosecution for knowingly counting illegal votes. Quote, these threats must stop, he said. Now, though rulings on temporary restraining orders like this are typically not appealable. That won't stop Trump. He'll probably actually. He has sought further review from the ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeals court already shot down the administration's first attempt to seek appellate review on the matter, saying there's no jurisdiction because the DOJ asked the three judge panel to bless its position before Judge Carter had a chance to do this do this ruling saying the emergency nature of its concerns justified bypassing the district court. But the panel was like, you've had months and months and months to do this, so this isn't just an emergency in your head. It's all in your head. But the panel, I'm paraphrasing. But the panel dismissed the case Monday in a 2 to 1 decision. We talked about that yesterday. And that sent it back to Judge Carter, who just put out this really scathing ruling. So good news.

All right, thank you so much. And from Politico, a federal appeals court panel signaled Thursday that it is unlikely to let the Department of Homeland Security resume a crackdown on alleged illegal voting. A campaign civic group say in a thinly veiled strategy to intimidate naturalized citizens. A three judge panel on the ninth Circuit Court of Appeals questioned the Trump administration's emergency demand to resume its enforcement search, known as the Unlawful Voter Initiative. A federal judge in California, by the way, blocked the initiative last week. DHS agents in nine states have conducted street level operations targeting people who they say have either voted or registered to vote illegally. Officials have paired those operations with a made for social media PR campaign featuring armed masked agents pilot pulling people out of their homes and placing them in handcuffs. If that's not, fucking voter intimidation, I don't know what is. And this is a quote, isn't part of this that the surge has an aspect of it that seemingly actually wants to intentionally is making an effort to instill fear. That's Judge Kim Wardrot. Like I said, that's a Clinton appointee and that's what Judge Wardlaw said. During Thursday's hearing. The judges said DHS conceded it had relied on faulty data to choose whom to target.

Do you remember, I mean I said this on social media. I was like, I bet they just have a list of like immigranty names.

Yeah, yeah.

And send it up and say you should check these people. They're potential non citizens.

100%. 100%. And by the way, so the judges said DHS conceded that it had relied on that bullshit data and that officials acknowledged specifically targeting naturalized citizens to root out potential fraud prior to their naturalization. And they questioned why it was so crucial for the government to continue this operation in the remaining days before Tuesday's midterms, quote. So why is the rush? What are you prevented from doing in the next four days? That's what Judge Sidney Thomas, also a Clinton appointee, said and went on to say, you can't prosecute anybody in four days. You can't convict them in four days. Why do we need to do this? The appeals panel is expected to rule imminently amid a last minute crash of legal maneuvering ahead of next week's midterm election elections.

Yeah, man. Here's some cool breaking news that just came across my feed here. Former Republican U.S. senator Sheila Fromm from Kansas has endorsed Democrat Adam Hamilton to Senate seat. And you know, before this show is up, I'll check on the update to see if that appellate court panel has ruled yet on this. You know, because we, we talked about these ice surges in California yesterday here on the beans and going door to do with masks and guns and pulling people out and asking if they voted and who they voted for and did they register to vote. And so I'll see if that ruling has come in. But first I want to give you this story from the Wall street journal. Super sad. $2.6 million in user funds were drained from polymarket accounts on Thursday after. Can I get a tiny violin in the back? Can I get a thank you? After hackers exploited an engineering flaw in the prediction markets website. The company confirmed that user funds were compromised and briefly paused trading on Wall street on the international exchange while it addressed the attack. The hack is the latest in a string of similar security incidents that have plagued polymarket this year as it struggles to keep a dominant position in Wall Street's hottest market. The sudden popularity of yes or no wagers on everything from sporting events to election results has drawn a raft of scrutiny from states, federal lawmakers and casinos. And me, polymarket and its Top US Rival Kalshi are ensnared in dozens of lawsuits over whether their market constitutes US Regulated swaps or illegal betting. The source on the latest breach, a security flaw in Debug Bear, a third party performance monitoring tool used on Polymarket's website, according to a person familiar with the matter. That's the breach, a security flaw in Debug Bear. Polymarket has referred the issue to law enforcement in the uk. That's where Debug Bear is based, the person said. I'm sure all the police are like, yeah, we'll get right on that. A blockchain wallet belonging to a suspected attacker appeared to Show More than 2.5 million in funds coming in from polymarket user accounts, according to the Wall Street Journal review of wallet Activity. The hackers withdrew funds from more than 700 accounts. Polymarket said in a statement after those Twitter posts that it had fixed an issue related to that third party vendor and assured the traders who lost money would be made whole. Would the people who lost their money in their accounts be made whole or just the traders?

Uh-huh.

This feels like an

inside job to me. I mean, it really feels like someone burning down something for insurance money. I don't know.

I think they. I think they're actually referring to the betters, the people who bet as traders because

they

want them to be trading. They're saying they're swapping, you know, invisible money or fake, you know, kind of like crypto. Like, it's like crypto. It's not betting. It's. Yeah, I think that's what they're referring to,

probably all. right. This one is from Coindesk. Binance, that's. The company lost $5.7 billion in the largest crypto hack to date. Thursday. Sending crypto prices sliding online. Sleuths are tracking the draining of a Binance wallet into a new externally owned account. The new account now has more than $5.7 billion of various cryptos, according to Arcam, including nearly 1.5 of bitcoin and 900 million of ether. The wallet also has roughly 1.4 billion in USDT and USDC combined. Our teams are aware of reports of a potential security issue and are actively investigating. This is from Binance on Twitter. And, I quote, user funds are safe. It says Binance founder cz. It does look like a hack on Binance. I don't manage Binance anymore, but as a shareholder, I expect all user funds will be fully covered.

Oh, do you? Okay, thanks, cz. Like, I don't know what Half of

the words you just said were this smash and grab before the fucking midterms. Allison, I don't think this is a coincidence. Because if they do anything like they're supposed to on crypto, you know what I mean? If they lose certain aspects and someone, you know, I don't want to say shuts down, but starts to regulate this thing. I don't know, the timing on this just looks really sus.

Yeah, or it might be from the other side trying to prevent crypto money from continuing to go into politics. could

be.

I think these are. I mean, it's just thieves. Whether they're from inside the house or not. I mean, we'll find out. If, you know, there's investigations, I'm not going to be looking into it too hard, but I'm sure someone will. All right, everybody, we got John Fugelsang coming up next, followed by the good news. Stick around. We'll be right back

after these messages. We'll be right back.

And if you don't buy my new

book, Vivek Ramaswamy Wins Ohio. Hello, Allison.

That's exactly the, the rule. I think I read that in the fine print, beneath that subtitle. Yeah,

yes, exactly. There's nothing beneath Vivek. But I'm trying. Yeah. What are we, what are we of only a few days? This is almost done. The two years of this. It's almost done. Dr. Gill, how is, how's

your

nervous system holding up?

I am, excited. Night. I'm not sleeping very well. I remember, you know, I've been talking about this for a while, but I remember peeling myself out of bed the day after the 2024 election and thinking about how far away this week was. It was like, it seemed so far in the future, it's going to take forever. And I was like, no, it'll be here soon. And here it is, here it is,

here it is. We are, we are here, racing towards it as Republicans race away from Donald Trump, appearing on stage with him. And this, what's happening in Alaska right now, this desperate Hail Mary pass by the person who has committed more election fraud, who has cheated harder, more often and deeper in American elections than any American in history, is screaming fraud about Mary Peltola over the presence of two candidates named Dan Sullivan, the patron saint of election lies, the man on tape coercing the Georgia Secretary of State to commit election fraud is very worried that Alaskan voters may be confused by two white guys with similar names. The hypocrisy is not a bug. It is the entire operating system. And there's so much to unpack from this little bit. But Trump is, as you and your attractive listeners know, demanding that, Mary Peltola, lose before she can win, be indicted before election day, presumably be incarcerated and tarred and feathered. This could be the first native woman to serve in our Senate. And all I can think of is these Republicans really care about the injustice of a ballot that's hard for voters in Alaska to understand. And it's not fair to expect voters to be confused by a ballot in the state of Alaska and have that election be binding. And all I can think of is my time machine that takes me to the election in Florida of 2000. Because if this is what we're doing now, if we're now going to throw out elections because the ballot's confusing, when do we inaugurate President Gore?

Yeah. Oh, and by the way, a confusing ballot. These people went in and wrote in Lisa Murkowski's name for her to become senator. So I don't think they're confused by

that. By the way, one says Sullivan, Daniel J. Jr. The other one says Sullivan, Dan S Registered Republican incumbent. No one is confused in the state of which Dan Sullivan they should be voting for. Keep in mind, this is the same political party that really. Remember how brilliant they were, Alison. Remember how much ah, at the time when they were ridiculing and dismissing and treating every. All the Jews in Florida who didn't mean to vote for Pat Buchanan. All the Jews who didn't mean to vote for an anti Semite. The ballot was illegal, but the Democratic Party had approved it in Florida, so we were stuck with it. These are the same people who, as I recall six years ago put Kanye west on the ballot, but only in the swing states, hoping that would confuse African American voters and keep Donald Trump in the White House. And now ballot confusion is a sacred Democratic emergency.

They were trying to do it with, RFK Jr. As well. If you'll recall. They also actually successfully did it in Florida by putting a Rodriguez on the ballot.

They're m

doing it in Washington state right now. The Republicans. This is called, by the way, this is called ballot stacking. And the reason it has a

name,

because it's common.

It's a thing, it's a legal thing.

That's why it has a whole name. It's called ballot stacking. And personally, John, I'm for it, just like I'm for gerrymandering. As long as you're gonna keep it legal?

Well, yeah, I mean, if it becomes illegal, then it'll be illegal, but for now there's nothing illegal. And they're trying to make her drop out of the race before the voting is done, before there could be any investigation, any criminal trial. I mean, I believe in prosecuting everybody of every party that breaks any election law. We already know the Republicans don't believe in that. But I did some digging on this. Do you know, 80 years ago in 1946, the legend is this is what Joe Kennedy Sr. Did to get his son, John F. Kennedy, elected to Congress. In Boston, there was a, the incumbent was Joseph Russo in the Democratic Party, and Joe Kennedy Sr. Allegedly arranged to have a guy who was a janitor with no political experience named Joseph Russo to be on the same exact ballot for the primary. And we know Kennedy went to Congress and then became president. This is nothing new. It's happened to Jose Serrano in New York. it happened to Councilman John Lew in New York. It, happened to Jose Rivera in 1991. I mean, you know, this is how it goes. And political operatives have spent decades recruiting people and trying to game the system any way they can. And again, Donald Trump's incredible hypocrisy in this. There's no one who's committed more public election fraud in history. And then you get to how much this woman's election would mean to the state of Alaska. She's Yupik, she's. She's Native. She has built a whole political identity for decades around working Alaskan families. But that's where it gets dodgy, because you know that they want to win the Senate, you know that they're trying to do this to keep the Senate. But even bigger than that, we need to start asking questions about the Trump administration's interest in Alaska's energy future and their dealings with Russia and how the natural resources are being carved up. Because I can tell you, they don't want a Native woman in the Senate. They really don't want a Native woman in the Senate in Alaska who might be asking inconvenient questions and putting the people in the air and the land and the water first. Who benefits if Alaska's voters choose a senator who challenges this administration's parties? And who benefits if those voters choices can get tied up in court for a long time? Putin and oil companies.

Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, like, this whole. This whole thing is just like you said, the hypocrisy, like, call me when you smear on the Capitol walls. Call me when you

have cops beaten for a lie,

when you give your home address to three other pals out of state so that they can use it to vote in Pennsylvania, like Scott Pressler did. Call me when you're James o' Keefe impersonating voters in Minnesota like they were just charged with crimes. Then, you know Then maybe give, me a call. But

this is election integrity as performance art. This is Trump. He had cops beaten to cheat in elections. And they're accusing Mary Pelto, and if she wins fair and square, it's going to drive them nuts. They can't do anything. Nothing illegal has happened. But they need one third of the population. They need those white folks watching Fox News. All they need is the permission structure to say, look here, there is clearly fraud. We get to invalidate the results of the election. And they're going to try watch Alaska.

And not just in Alaska, but everywhere.

Oh, yeah,

and also, it was pretty bad week otherwise for authoritarians, I think. We had a daily beans podcast episode this week called Bad Bad Day for Fascists. I mean, especially going on, on the docket with what's going on in California. Ninth Circuit rejects. Judge Carter rejects. We covered that earlier on the show today. Donald Trump is now saying, if anyone dies on, the golf course, I'm blaming Judge Reyes. If anyone dies, just like he said, if anyone gets hit by a chunk of concrete falling from the ceiling at the Kennedy center, we know who to blame. Like, it's just ridiculous. But it was bad. It was a bad week in Corfum M. Usually we only see, like,

one week,

like one or two really bad rulings for an administration every couple of months, and now they're coming three, four a week.

I mean, I'm still warm from Viktor Orban getting the boot, but, yeah, to watch what we saw in Serbia this week, and that was led by students and their dictator said, well, y' all beat me. I'm out. And then watching the Bolsonaro dynasty get further humiliated. I mean, watching.

But he has asylum now and permanent residency in the United States after landing in Florida.

Yeah, but he has it because the people of Brazil told mini Me to get lost. You know, and by the way, I, I can't wait for Attorney General Jack Smith to investigate this and find out, how much did, how much of a taste of all that money laundering did this White House get to grant this guy, asylum so quickly in Florida? I mean, it's just, it's, it's beautiful. Donald Trump tried tariffs, he tried sanctions to rescue this corrupt family, and it didn't work. I mean, and, and in Serbia, to see Putin lose one of his closest allies after, after years of this, I mean, we're, that means we're a step closer to watching Putin. Getting Putin out of a window somewhere. But, I mean, democracy still works when you let it. And fourth

story Fourth floor window cancer, we call it.

That's. That would. That, that would be it. But again, and you look at it and it's like, so what's going to be the response now? We'll have policy debate. No. Trump so panicked now, he's exploiting the deaths of 911 to attack and smear an American born citizen to help cheat in an election like El Sayed is the Muslim who's gonna steal Christmas. I mean, when people can't afford groceries, make them scared of jihadist Santa. Right? And that's the only play they keep losing. They see these fascists losing and when I see them resorting to, such racism, what they're doing to Wilheln Omar, which we talked about last week, I mean, to me it's just beautiful because they're so desper. Trying to keep the most craven red meat parts of their own base engaged. This is not to get people to cross over and support the winning Trump team. What do you all have to do? No, they're trying to get their own core racists to want to show up and burn the gas to come vote for this guy. That's the beautiful thing about it. I mean, the Ilhan Omar thing's going to disappear after election day when her own constituents resoundingly reelect her. And this is all just the signs of late stage American fascism, completely collapsing before it can own it. It's, it's, it's beautiful. Well, you and

I talked about this years ago. When you're, when you're ousting authoritarians and you're ousting tin pot dictators, they, there's death throes and that's what we're seeing right now. And all they've got, because they can't argue policy, is, well, he's a gay Muslim, transgender vegan or whatever, you know, that's all they have to. Who hates the Cheesecake Factory? I mean, it's, it's bizarre, but it's all they've got.

Yeah, Because Republicans are behind Democrats on immigration now. Think about that. Think about 10 years building your entire political brand on one racist issue, and now they've lost it. You know, like the strong men always look invincible right up until people just stop being afraid of them. And we've seen it all throughout history. These guys who confuse loyalty with popularity and they confuse power with permission to rule forever. I mean, Serbia, Hungary, Brazil, we'll see what's gonna happen with Netanyahu if he is replaced. I don't think it'll be by A more progressive movement. I think it might be another hardliner movement just with a less corrupt

leader. I mean, the guy who asked it, Orban, was a right wing, xenophobe, anti immigrant guy as well. So. But, you know, the writing was on the wall there. There's fascism and then there's right wing weirdos and they went anti fascism. And I think that they're moving toward that a little bit over, in Israel too, despite, you know, because, I mean, it's just they have 34 political parties and there are multiple parties that make up the block that, that of Eisenhower's block that, you know, the opposition block.

Yeah.

And while Eisencot has not great stances on Gaza and Palestinians, none of them do, by

the way. None of them

do. None of them do. And there are like multiple other parties. And for the, the fact that the Arab party's got, we're looking at 16, 19 seats.

Yeah,

that's

incredible, right? Incredible.

Massive change.

So look what Netanyahu's doing. He's following the Trump playbook completely and he's blaming it on the Arab parties that the election was rigged and the election was stolen. This is the new blueprint for all these right wing fascists. Netanyahu is saying that marginalized, powerless Arabs in Israel, they have such incredible power, they can rig the entire Israeli election, literally making the Trumpian argument of going for a powerless minority and blaming your loss on them. I mean, it's just incredible. But

they did that with us, right? Like, oh, we rig elections. So how did we lose 2016 and 2024 if we're so good at rigging?

Because they're only rigged when Trump's in office. I mean, these are the dots these folks can't connect. We're supposed to believe that our elections are completely legit, but only when Barack Obama and Joe Biden are President. If it's 2020 or 2026, then by God, you know it's going to be crooked. I mean, this is the whole formula. And you know what? I think most adults are bored of this pageant.

I think so too, because we're. Now we're seeing so many. Let's talk about the midterms, because we're seeing so many low propensity voters turn out in massive numbers. And anywhere between 20 and 60 point margins flipping for Democrats, not flipping, but landing on the Democratic side are these low propensity votes. And a low propensity voter is someone who didn't vote in one or more of the last three elections. That's what they define as a low propensity voter. And we also see millions of new voters, young voters that are, you know, between 18 and 25,

and people who have become citizens as well.

And. Yeah, and you couple that with the fact that the Joe Rogan voters, the young men who voted for Trump in, in, in 2024,

sheepish now, aren't they?

Who? Well, they weren't as entrenched as the original Trump 1.0 MAGA cult. And so it was easier for them to walk away this time around. And whether they're flipping Democrat isn't the point. But they're staying home.

Yes. if I may. Fuck them all anyway. May I just say that,

right? Oh, yeah.

Especially the high

five.

Especially the comedians. All those comedians. And fuck Tony Hinchcliffe in his racist fucking face. All they paid for this. They paid for every lie. They rewarded the rapists after he had cops beaten for a lie. These fucking humps went for the authoritarian. And maybe they could all hide out in Austin and surround themselves with like minded douchebags, but, we'll remember.

Yeah,

I don't like criticizing comedians, but I mean, I get so furious.

They're not comedians.

Yeah, they are, they are. And some of them are good comics too, but morally pretty, shitty. I have one rule for Christianity, comedy and politics. Don't punch down. And when you're Tony Hinchcliffe with your fucking pubic hair on your face, standing there in Madison Square Garden calling Puerto Rico a pile of garbage while serving a billionaire. Fuck you, buddy. Yeah, yeah, all of it. Let's watch Mr. Trump give you a job. But anyway,

sorry, I'm not, I'm not by any means saying congratulations to these wonderful young men who voted for Trump. No, you

just triggered me, Alison. That's never happened. I never swear this much on your show. Goodness.

I'm just saying they're less likely to vote now because they were promised no new wars. They were promised lower prices. They were promised the beautiful Americans American golden dream. Oh, it's somehow not coming true. That's too. I

mean, and now you're asking me to pay how much a gallon to drive to a polling place for you guys, that's the best part about Texas because that was the runoff. So you got to find people who hate women enough that they'll get in a car and drive to vote for Ken Paxton three times in one year. I mean, there's going to be some fatigue there.

Yeah. Sucer tyrannis. all you fascists bound to lose one last, last thing, before we get out of

here. Those are two very different quotes by very different men, by the way. Well done.

Yes. Yeah, thank you. But they were like, right in the same year. I'm kidding.

Yeah, Woody Guthrie and John Wilkes Booth. I think they line up pretty good.

Let's talk about anthropic. I wanted to ask you about this because more and more we're seeing CEOs of, you know, the Berlagarchs say we should probably hit the brakes on some of this there. We could, we could see our refrigerators attacking us by the end of this year. the Internet of things could, be taken over by rogue AI bots. But what's the latest and what are your thoughts on it?

I mean, anthropic going public and their IPO prospectus, which pretty much just says, invest in us, folks. We, we might cure cancer or revitalize civilization or accidentally kill you and exterminate the entire species. Who knows? And that's really there. I mean, 94 pages of risk disclosures. 90. I don't spend that much time on IPOs, but 90, 90, most IPOs warn you that, you know, the value might go down. this, this one warns you the entire concept of up might become irrelevant when humanity is extinct. Like, this is, this is their opening pitch. And their AI models have have reportedly shown blackmail type behavior. They've resisted shutdown attempts, they've accessed real world systems without authorization. They find passwords and become administrators. And they've like changed the settings and access people's personal. Like, like, like Michael Rapaport when he broke up with Lily Taylor and harassed her in the 90s, you remember? So, like this whole tech that can hack your computer and steal your passwords and kill us all and we're going to take it public so you good people can buy shares and like, like, I mean, they used to sell us questionable mortgages on Wall Street. Now they're selling us the possibility of an extinction event. But it can also book your vacation travel. I mean, if you're as outraged by that cute little fuzzy meta mascot that they're using for their AI stuff. It's like, you know, catastrophic existential risks to humanity. And this is the industry Donald Trump doesn't want regulated. I mean, nukes, NASA, osha, faa, fcc, we regulate all this stuff to protect people. But it could kill all of us. Oh, let' the goodwill of AI billionaire CEOs, that should take care of everything. And I just can't believe it. At a time when we're finally on the verge of getting our Republican brothers and sisters to come on board on this movement because they're angry about data centers. These guys are just wagging their junk at decency in the human species itself.

Well, I mean, it's the modern day equivalent of Jonestown. Speaking of, did you see the guy at the Trump rally?

No, I did see the guy that. He was. Great. We played that on the air. Beautiful.

We're gonna play it over. By

the way, you know why there's no, there's no jokes about, the Jonestown tragedy?

Because the punch lines are too long.

It's exactly right. The punchline is way too long. I can't fool you. It's an old one. It's an old one from childhood. But I mean, I think the only thing more powerful than AI is this human ability to monetize anything, including our own potential extinction. And in the midst of all this, we are learning that the data. And we

can bet on it on Calcium polymarket.

Yeah, exactly right. who also have the Democrats two thirds for the Senate. But, this same week, the data center industry announces they're going to give a million and a half bucks to Darlene Graham because she's fighting against DEI so hard. So it's like,

oh, oh, Darlene Nordone. You're talking

Darlene Nordone. Yes, sorry. It's a bunch of billion dollar server farms deciding which human being gets to represent other human beings. They don't say who the donors are. It's totally undisclosed. We don't know who's funding the Pacific. But, Annie Andrews in South Carolina wants a two year moratorium on new data centers because folks, including conservatives, are worried about their energy bills and all the water consumption. And Darlene, she says stopping construction would just give China the advantage in AI and Dr. Gillian

data centers or something, don't they? And we have like 9,700,000,000,000.

Right. But when did China become the magic word that makes every corporate giveaway sound patriotic? If we don't do this, China will get ahead. Like when? Who care? Like, you could tell these people, we're going to send your paycheck directly to Donald Trump or else China wins the your paycheck race. And these guys would stand up, they'd stand for it. Like

a race China's actually winning is the solar and wind race,

which, Barack Obama and Joe Biden told us about many times. Those are the growth industries for energy of the future, but they weren't bribed and owned like Donald Trump, who has a for rent sign above his ass. Ass. I mean, that's how he got the. He told. After

we shoved the ballroom there. You have to move the sign to shove the ballroom up.

Oh my God. Have you seen the President's. I don't know what's going on with his butt, but it looks like. It looks like Mike Johnson finally just crawled up in there and nested. I'm very worried about

one of those walking assist things, you know, like one of those robotic. Anyway, who knows? Who knows? It's

either that or 16 adult diapers at once. I'm trying to understand his, his posterior here. He, wants to talk about other men so we don't talk about his own. I. You get that. That, right?

Ah, I mean, of course,

yeah, dementia is never funny, but, fascist homoerotic dementia. Oh, it's getting me through this last week. Dr. Gill, beautiful, beautiful.

all. right, next up from Anonymous, middle aged bird watcher pronouns she and her. As we approach election day, I want to encourage everyone to really pay attention to their local school board races. Moms for Lib and other bad actors have been making a huge effort to destroy public ed from within my district, San Yiguito SDUHSD in North County San Diego has been a prime target. They are going after the top public school performers instead of just the struggling schools. My district has an excellent art CTE teacher running Justin Moody against one of the puppeteers of the destruction, Ginny Merrifield. Helen Doyle is running against J6 anti Vaxxer supporter Summer Bojer. Amy Flicker is running against Mitashiro M who created AI misogynistic ads of her in front of a bake sale as easy way to see who supports your schools and to look on Facebook or Instagram to see who your local teachers unions support. We want the best for our schools and kids. Pophead Tacks is an ink painted I did of a returning house finch that makes a precarious nest on our patio every year.

That's not a pic, that's not a photo.

That's

wow.

What?

That's an ink painting.

That's incredible.

I thought it was a photo. I thought they were giving me like a webcam of a bird's nest.

Totally. That's amazing. Talented, talented, talented.

We also have the SDFA Educators Elections Matter guide for San diegouito. Thank you so much. Anonymous Middle aged birdwatcher in my neck of the woods. Next up from Kim Pronoun. She and her recently Wendy Mendez in Oshkosh, Wisconsin was snatched by ice, held in terrible conditions, then deported to Costa Rica. Wendy is a wife and a mother and a middle school teacher and an outstanding member of her community. We have a link in the show Notes to the WPR story. Community members are encouraged to attend the Vigilance for the Missing on Friday from 6 to 7pm at Opera House Square in Oshkosh. For Wendy and others, gathering matters bearing witness matters creating space for grief and reflection matters. Thank you Kim. Thank you for this everyone in the oshkosh area this Friday 6pm Here is the flyer a Vigil for the missing and that's going to be at Opera House Square on Main street in Oshkosh on Friday.

All right, thank you so much Allison. Amy in Marilyn is next pronounce she and her dear AG and dg. I finally have some good news to share. I went to vote early in my state of Maryland Red County. First as I was walking a person came running up to me to offer advice. I put my hand out and said no thank you. I'm voting blue down the line only to find out she was offering a sheet with progressive individuals running for school board who are usually not identified as Dem or Republican. Then When I got it, they couldn't find my name. Then when I got in, they couldn't find my name. I was afraid of some shenanigans, but found that I am one of two people in the county with the very same name. Luckily, our middle initial is different. As I sighed in relief, I told the individual that I recently changed from independent to Democrat, and that had me worried. She said so many have changed their party affiliation this time around. That made me smile. I thanked every poll worker I encountered and was very encouraged to see the place full of people coming in to vote early, some with a car fully packed.

I'm

sharing two photos I took on my trip to Alaska this summer. One of Harry Marmot and the other of river otter. Thank you for all you do. Oh, my God. Thank you for all you do. I feel too overwhelmed to hear the news. I just listened to your podcast. It kept me informed and without making me feel hopeless. Please take care of yourselves. Look at this river otter with a big old mouth.

no, that's the marmot. That's the hairy marmot. The river otter is the second one,

I think. Harry Marmot. You know what, and thank you so much for your kind words, Amy. That's really good, refreshing news. I love that you say, you know, you're too overwhelmed to hear the news, so you just listen to the podcast. That's by design. You know, we pull out the stories we think are important, and you, know, Dana and I talk about them and give context and some background, and we do that so everyone can stay informed without feeling hopeless. So thank you for. For saying that. Really appreciate

it. Absolutely.

Next, up everyone's Aunt Mary Pronoun. She and her hola chicas delos fre freos. Oh, we're little beans. I've been listening since just after the kitchen table days. Thank the gods for you. I've been living in Mexico for about a year and a half. I was worried about how to vote from abroad, but it turns out Colorado, where I lived for the last 30 some years, makes it very easy to vote from abroad. I did it all with information at my county Dems website. I had to ask a couple questions of the county election office too, and they were quick and kind and didn't ask D or R, just how can I help? So, to anyone outside the US at this time, just know that if you're a US citizen, you have the right to vote. I'm sending my digital I voted sticker and my beloved old man Paez, adopted 12 years ago. He's what makes this retired old woman get up in the morning. Always demanding the walkies. Thanks for years of love, information and sweariness. Thank you for the kind words, Aunt Mary. Look at that virtual I voted sticker. I love it.

I know. That is awesome. And the dog. Oh, excuse me. Hello.

Oh, very dignified with the crossed paw.

Yes, you are. Hello. Oh, my God. Fantastic. All right, from Mina. From Cleveland, Ohio. Went to Obama, Brown and Acton rally.

It

was fantastic. The long line wrapped around blocks Nervous we wouldn't get in. Two and a half hours later, we did. Good to hear from leaders and surrounded by 10,000 people who are kind, caring and genuine. For my pod pet tariff, a pic of poor Max who got skunked in the face. Poor us. Now we have a stinky house. Thanks for all you do. Remember, don't boo. Vote blue.

Mmm. Incredible. Look at that. Got Ohio against the world. Great sign. Oh, skunked in the face dog. What's up, buddy? A. And, go Cleveland. That's amazing to see Obama, in person at a rally. I mean, it's. We're going to be showing some clips over on Beans Talk of a couple of, our favorites. And so I hope you tune in. But thank you so much for this. All right, next up from Carol Pronoun. She and her. I just want to say hi and happy Halloween. Here's the pumpkin I carved this past weekend. Hopefully a subliminal message to the universe. Thanks for being there every weekday morning as I get ready for work. And it's, it's the grim Reaper and it just says soon, Carol. I love your subliminal messages. Everybody send in your pumpkins that you carved. That's a good, good, news thing to send in. And your costumes too. And I'll also take this next one from Jackson. Just got home from a quick trip to the Philippines and I'm catching up. Thank you for helping me get back to my regular pattern that includes listening to your pods during my morning commute. Attached is a shop that had me giggling in the Philippines. The shop.

Oh my God, look at that.

Beans talk. Look at that. What does it say under bistro established in 2013. Jackson.

Thank you so

much.

Nice. All right, next up from Anonymous pronunciation. Her feeling grateful for this strong, respectful, inclusive community that you've built and continue to nurture. I would like to shout out a local nonprofit I'm on the board of Pathwise, found@, pathwise.org it's our town's only free after school enrichment program for underserved middle schoolers a big need because we have major disparities in our school system. If you're anywhere near Palo Alto, please consider including this worthwhile program in your end of year giving. And for my pod pet bribe or tax, here's a picture of Walter sleeping in his older sister's bed. She just left for Emerson to study musical theater, and he's missing her. Thanks,

Walter. What a great name

for this. So sweet.

Thank you so much for that. Oh, just sleeping in her bed, like, sad that she's gone. Thank you so much for that beautiful dog. Next up, from Eric. He and him. Hello, my morning coffee companions. Congrats on the double win. Y' all definitely deserved it. Thank you. Today I want to send a shout out to the strongest, kindest woman I know. My wife, Jenna with a g. We're celebrating 13 years together on Halloween and 10 years of marriage m in November. I love people who get married on Halloween. These are my kind of people. She's a survivor of childhood sa. She, was a preschool teacher until a back injury took her out of the workforce permanently. Jenna is not a political person at all, but the Epstein debacle got her dander up. Up. I've never seen her so in engaged. She doesn't even cut my rants short anymore. I started showing her your moxie moments a few weeks ago, and she started watching beans talk, and she's now a daily listener of the beans. Oh, welcome. Thank you so much, Jenna with a G. I'm happy to say that we now both love y'. All. I know you're listening, babe, and I love you. And have a good day. For my pet. Tacks here are antifa mutts Liz and Bode, who you've seen before, and a new addition, Ash, the kitten who has moved into the ash tree in our backyard. Okay, that's a good name, Eric.

And this

gives me a good idea. People should send out their dedications like we're Casey Kasem.

totally.

If you know they're listening, send out your dedications. Puppers and the sweet kitty. So very cute. Thank you, everyone. That's a good way to go into this weekend, this final weekend before the end of the midterm elections. This is it. I'm nervous.

This is it. I know I'm nervous. You be partying in San Diego. I'm nervous.

Yeah, I mean, the house we got. We just gotta look at that senate stuff and governor's races and gotta look out for the shenanigans that are definitely gonna Be happening. The crimes, I should say. Shenanigans sound fun, right? Yeah, shenanigans is something.

Shenanigans are fun,

right?

No, there's gonna be some nonsense.

Yeah. For. For real. Oh, by the way, this just in. Trump has now canceled all of his in person rallies this weekend.

Oh, my God. He's either super sick. Could you imagine if it happened on Tuesday?

Oh, man. Oh,

no, actually, let's not. Because they would try and they'd be like, oh, we gotta cancel the midterms. President died. Like, let's just, you know, let's just wait a minute on that. So I take it back, poo po. But, you know, obviously things are not going well for the in person rallies.

Oh, man. Telerally, probably. Like you said. AI, we'll keep an eye on this and get back to y' all on Monday. Come check us out on beans talk. Oh, I scored an interview with the, author of the Jared Kushner book that all that breaking news came out with. His

name

is Matthew Cole, and I'm going to be speaking to him on Sunday's episode of the Breakdown on the Midas Touch Network. You'll see a link, like Sunday morning, brunch time, to that interview. And it'll also be in. The audio will be in the beans feed on Monday.

I'm

looking forward to that. and then we'll be back in your ears on Monday. Do you have any final thoughts, my friend?

No final thoughts for today.

All right, until. Until Monday, everybody, please take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take care of the planet, take care of your mental health, take care of your family. Don't vote red,

or you know what? We'll all be dead.

Please vote blue all the way down the ballot. It, and. Or, you know, we started for

the correct candidate.

Yes, for

the candidate that is going to represent you well in D.C.

the candidate that will caucus with the blue. We

don't have much to rhyme with that. That's right.

We just don't. Yeah, I don't want to try to rhyme with caucus. We'll see all then. I've been AG

and I've been dg,
