Um, MSW Media News With Swearing.

Daily beans.

Daily beans.

Daily beans. Daily beans.

Hello and welcome to the Daily Beans for Tuesday, March twelfth, 2024. Today, former advisors sound the alarm that Trump praises despots in private and on the campaign trail. The VA expands IVF for veterans. Pete Navarro is ordered to report to prison next week. The Trump team slashes staff at the RNC. A Trump supporter has been charged with firing a gun at the Capitol attack. E. Jean Carroll could sue Trump again. Special counsel Robert Herr has resigned from the DOJ so he can testify as a private citizen today. And Biden takes aim at Trump on entitlements in a new ad. I'm Allison Gill.

And I'm Dana Goldberg.

Hi, Dana. You sound so professional today.

And I'm Dana Goldberg. It was a different inflection. And I'm Dana Goldberg. I'm good. I'm tired. But I think that's just life in general. But other than that, things are good.

Jet lag plus losing an hour and all that good stuff, they should just keep, um m like, that should be the last time we change our clocks.

I know.

Seriously, let's just do that this term. But, uh, it'll be a Biden win, so the Republicans will oppose it.

That's true. Are you kidding? If Biden got rid of daily savings, people would vote for him. Just for that.

Just for that. Yeah. We don't want another Biden win on clock setting. So they will definitely oppose it. They'll somehow tie it to the border. All right, we have a lot of news to get to today, but we have some quick hits first.

And to make a long story short.

All right, good news. Trump advisor Pete Navarro has been ordered to report to prison next week on March 19 to serve his four month prison sentence for defying a congressional subpoena issued by the January 6 committee. Tune in to tomorrow's cleanup on Owl 45 for a list of things he can buy at the prison commissary.

I love to see it. And Donald Trump's newly installed leadership team at the Republican National Committee on Monday began the process of pushing out dozens of officials. All told, the expectation is that more than 60 RNC staffers who work across the political, communications, and data departments, they're all getting let go. Those being asked to resign include five members of senior staff, though the names were not made public. Additionally, some vendor contracts are expected to be cut. I hope they all spill all the tea at the RNC because I have a feeling there will not be severance packages.

Right? Yeah, they're going to take the Elon Musk Twitter route and just fire everybody? Say, well, no, we fired you for cause. You're at will employees. M meh. The re election campaign of President Joe Biden on Monday released a new digital ad targeting Donald Trump over comments that he made to CNBC about cutting government programs, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The Biden campaign gave CNBC a first look at the new 22nd ad, highlighting the statement on squawk box by Donald Trump, who, as the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, is expected to face Biden in November's election. So remember when all the Republicans were like, we don't want to cut those things. You're lying. We don't want to cut those things. Well, Donald Trump has said he's going to cut them, and Joe Biden is using it in an ad.

All right, and Donald Trump enthusiast. I like how they called him an enthusiast who appeared to fire two gunshots at the Capitol on January 6 while he was arrested by federal authorities on Friday, NBC News identified John Emmanuel Bonuelos two years ago as the man in photos and video footage who appeared to be flashing a gun in his waistband as he fought officers on January of 2021. While numerous rioters were armed with guns on January 6, none were known to have actually fired their weapons. Well, Banuelos is the first to be charged with doing so. And, you know, even though all of these people are obviously pretty abhorrent, thank God none of them decided to point it at someone when they shot it. Do you know what I mean?

Oh, it could have been so much worse.

So much worse.

Um, when I speak to, um, my friends, Mike Fanone, Harry Dunn, they were yelling to get their guns off them and shoot them. It could have been way worse than it was. So we, uh, owe a, uh, debt of gratitude to the men and women who, uh, valiantly fought, uh, with, as best they could without the national guard help. Donald Trump.

No kidding.

On that day, men, women and people, I should say. All right, we have a lot of news to get to. Let's hit the hot notes. Hot notes. First up, from Jim Shooto at CNN to Donald Trump, hungarian strongman Viktor Orban is, quote, fantastic. Chinese leader Xi Jinping is brilliant. North Korea's Kim Jong un is an okay guy. And most alarmingly, he allegedly said Adolf Hitler did some good things, a worldview that would reverse decades old foreign U. S. Policy in a second term should he win November's presidential election. That's according to multiple former senior advisors speaking to CNN. Quote, he thought Putin was an okay guy and Kim was an okay guy that we had pushed North Korea into a corner. That's what retired general John Kelly, who served as Trump's chief of staff, told Jim Shoto, quote, to him, it was like we were goading these guys. If we didn't have NATO, then Putin would be doing these things. Unquote. Trump's lavish praise for Victor Orban while hosting him at Mar a Lago on Friday, just days after all, but sealing the republican nomination on Super Tuesday, shows it's a worldview he's doubling down on. Quote, there's nobody that's better, smarter or better leader than Victor Orban, he said, adding, he's the boss and he's a great leader, fantastic leader in Europe and around the world. They respect him, unquote. The former president's admiration for autocrats has been reported before. But in comments by Trump recounted to Jim Sciutto for his new book, quote, the Return of great powers, unquote. That's the name of the book. It's out today. John Kelly and others who served under Trump gave new insight into why they warn that a man who consistently praises autocratic leaders opposed to U. S. Interest is ill suited to lead the country in the great power clashes that could be coming, telling Jim Sciutto that they believe the root of his admiration for these figures is that he envies their power. Quote, he views himself as a big guy. That's what John Bolton said, who served as national security advisor under Trump. Quote, he likes dealing with other big guys. And big guys like Erdogan in Turkey get to put people in jail and you don't have to ask anybody's permission. He kind of likes that, unquote.

Good Lord.

Yeah. Um, he went on to say he's not a tough guy by any means. In fact, quite the opposite. That's what John Kelly said, actually. But that's how he envisions himself. Trump allegedly reserved some of his most unnerving praise for Hitler, who led Nazi Germany during World War II, as we know. Quote, he said, well, but Hitler did some good things. I said, well, what? And he said, well, Hitler rebuilt the economy, but what did he do with that rebuilt economy? He turned it against his own people and against the world. And I said, sir, you can never say anything good about the guy. Nothing. And, um, that's what Kelly recounted. I mean, Mussolini was a great guy in comparison, unquote. Quote, it's pretty hard to believe he missed the Holocaust, though, and pretty hard to understand how he missed the 400,000 American gis that were killed in European theater. That's what Kelly told Sciutto. But I think it's more, again, the tough guy thing. Trump's admiration for Hitler went further than the german leader's economic policies. According to Kelly, Trump also expressed admiration for Hitler and his hold on senior Nazi officers. Trump lamented that Hitler, as Kelly recounted, maintained his senior staff's loyalty, while Trump himself did not. Quote, he would ask about the loyalty issues and about how when I pointed out to him german generals as a group were not loyal to him and in fact tried to assassinate him a few times, and he didn't know that. That's what Kelly recalled. He truly believed when he brought us generals in that we would be loyal, that we would do anything he wanted us to do. That's what John Kelly told Sciutto, quote, my theory on why he likes dictators so much is that's who he is. Every incoming president is shocked that they actually have so little power without going to Congress, which is a good thing. It's civics 101, separation of powers, three equal branches of government. But in his case, he was shocked that he didn't have dictatorial type powers to send the US forces to different places or to move money around within the budget. And he looked at Putin and Xi and that nutcase in North Korea as people who were like him in terms of being a tough guy, unquote. Trump's affinity for authoritarians represents a defining issue for the US at the 2024 election. Several of his own former advisors believe in a second term he would bring fundamental shifts into the US's vision of itself and its role in the world, including potentially pulling the US out of NATO and reducing the US commitment to other defense alliances. Quote, NATO would be in real jeopardy. Bolton told Sciutto. I think he would try to get out. Now, of course, there was a law recently passed that says a president can't unilaterally withdraw from NATO, but that wouldn't stop him from not participating in NATO stuff if somebody attacked an ally. Many veterans of the Trump administration have a similar warning for Ukraine. Quote, U. S. Support for Ukraine would end. That's what a senior official said who served under Trump and Biden. The point is he saw, uh, absolutely no point in NATO. Kelly said. He was just dead set against having troops in South Korea again, a deterrent force, or even having troops in Japan, another deterrent force, unquote.

Uh, it's terrifying. The fact that people out there think he's going to be good for jewish people blows my fucking mind. This guy idolizes Hitler.

Yeah.

All right. Gee, thank you. This is from Haberman Wiser in protests, uh, at the Times. Just days after Donald Trump posted a $91.6 million bond in the defamation case he lost recently to badass Eugene Carroll. Her lawyer on Monday suggested she was considering filing a third defamation lawsuit against the former president because he just can't keep his mouth shut at his fucking rallies. The lawyer raised the prospect of a new lawsuit after Mr. Trump, in recent days repeatedly lashed out at Ms. Carroll using the same kind of disparaging language that led to the huge judgment against him in January. Quote, the statute of limitations for defamation in most jurisdictions is between one and three years. That's what Roberta Kaplan said. As we know, uh, Robbie is Miss Carol's lawyer. She said that in a statement Monday, went on to say, as we said after the last jury verdict, we continue to monitor every statement that Donald Trump makes about our client. In a separate court filing, Ms. Kaplan told the federal judge overseeing the case that she and Mr. Trump's lawyers had reached an agreement on the details of his proposed $91.6 million bond. The bond, provided by Federal insurance Company, an arm of the insurance giant chub, would prevent Ms. Carol from collecting her 83.3 million judgment while Mr. Trump appeals the defamation verdict. The bond is higher than the judgment because the former president is also responsible for interest. Well, the judge, Louis Kaplan, not related to Robbie, by the way. Thank you for making that clear. He must still approve the proposed bond. The race to secure the bond before Monday's deadline came as Mr. Trump was on the clock to obtain a bond for another huge judgment in a civil fraud case brought by, as we know, the New York attorney general's office. In that case, Mr. Trump must post a nearly half billion dollar bond by March 25, or the interior general's office can seize, start beginning to take his shit while he appeals. And it's a beautiful thing. Mr. Trump lacks the cash, which is bizarre for a billionaire. You think he'd be able to come up with this?

I thought so. You better call Tyrone.

I know so. Donald lacks the cash to come up with both of the bonds at once, placing him in financial peril at an already hectic time. Hectic court cases. He also faces four criminal indictments, with the trial in the first case beginning in Manhattan in two weeks, all, uh, while he is on the cusp of becoming the republican presidential nominee, uh, for the third time. Although the former president boasts, like I said, his billions of dollars, his net worth is derived largely from the value of his real estate. He has more than 350,000,000 in cash, a recent New York Times analysis found far short of what he needs to obtain bonds. In both cases, an appeal bond is a promise from the company offering it to cover a judgment if a defendant in the case of Donald loses an appeal and fails to pay. In exchange, Mr. Trump must pay the company a premium and pledge collateral, including as much cash as possible, or, as it seems Donald likes to do, appoint him to a cabinet position. Possibility. Just speculating, you know. Mr. Trump has twice attacked M Miss Carol in recent days using the type of language that has led to two of defamation findings against him. Most recently, the jury found that $83.3 million award. On Saturday evening at a rally in Georgia, Donald complained bitterly about the bond he had to post, insisting Miss Carol's accusations were false, and said that she was, quote, not a believable person. Oh, uh, boy. Well, Donald doubled down on those remarks Monday morning during a telephone interview with CNBC, mocking E. Jean as, quote, Miss Bergdorf Goodman, which is horrifying because that's where the fucking assault happened, by the way, a reference to the luxury apartment store, which is horrifying because that is where the sexual assault, rape, if you will, happened. Mhm. Well, in the interview, Mr. Trump called the decisions against him ridiculous. Without elaboration, he said, I got charged. I was given a false accusation and had to post a $91 million bond on a false accusation. That's what Donald said, who was in fact, not charged criminally in that case. Mr. Trump's lawyers have also made a last ditch effort to delay the Manhattan trial, arguing that the judge overseeing the case should wait until after the Supreme Court has ruled on the immunity issue. That may not happen until June. Quote, President Trump is entitled to immunity from prosecution based on evidence of official acts that he undertook during his first term in office. That's his lawyers, that they wrote in the court filing that was made public on Monday. It's just an absurd statement. The judge in the case, that's Juan Merchon, is unlikely to grant that request. Quote, the issue of the state proceedings, I don't believe, is for the Supreme Court. That's what he said in a recent hearing. So at least that's good news.

Yeah. And by the way, a judge earlier in that case, Trump, ah, waived presidential immunity and the judge ordered that there was no presidential immunity because he waived it and Trump didn't appeal that. So that ruling should stand, so there should be no immunity there. And with regard to Trump doubling down on his Rome, Georgia, remarks on CNBC, if it was just in Rome, Georgia, um, and George Conway pointed this out, they would have to file a lawsuit in the northern district of Georgia, where Rome, Georgia, is. But because he went on squawk box, which is headquartered in New York, uh, Robbie Kaplan can file in, too. But, you know, the reason I think that she brought up the statute of limitations is because you have to show damages, and it might take some time to show those damages. Uh, between the time that he defames her, uh, and the time that they may file a third lawsuit for defamation against him, you've got to kind of show how you've been damaged. And so you might need to wait a little while. But that's on the table. All right. From Andrew Feinberg at the Independent. Robert her the former Trump appointed U. S. Attorney who declined to prosecute President Joe Biden after classified materials were found in his Delaware home and one of his former offices in DC. He will appear before the House Judiciary Committee today as a private citizen and has surrounded himself with republican partisans and notorious figures linked to former President Trump. According to multiple sources familiar with Mr. M. Herr's plans, the special counsel who's appearing before the Judiciary committee at the request of the republican majority led by Jim Jordan, has arranged his departure from the DOJ to be official as of Monday, March 11, one day before he's scheduled to appear on Capitol Hill. Instead of appearing as a DOJ employee bound by the ethical guidelines governing the behavior of federal prosecutors, he will appear as a private citizen with no constraints on his testimony. Gross a judiciary committee source said Mr. Hurr's departure from the government service the day before he testifies is a major red flag for Democrats on the panel. Quote, this makes it even more problematic from our perspective. If he was still a federal employee, DOJ would have to approve his testimony and they'd be involved in his appearance tomorrow. Now, in addition to the timing of his departure, raising alarm bells among the Judiciary committee minority Democrats, sources have also been alarmed by Mr. Hurr's choice of associates during the lead up to his appearance. And I have brought this up multiple times. I was like, this is shady. Af in preparing for the hearing, Mr. Hur has turned to William Burke, a veteran Washington lawyer with deep ties to the republican political establishment, to serve as his counsel during his testimony as a private citizen before the committee. Mr. Burke, former federal prosecutor who served on the team responsible for prosecuting media personality Martha Stewart during his tenure as assistant US attorney in the Southern District of New York, uh, left the department in 2005 for a position in the White House, where he served as deputy counsel to then president G. W. Bush and later as special counsel to Mr. Bush and Deputy White House staff secretary during the DOJ probe into russian interference in the 2016 election led by Robert Mueller. Mr. Burke represented three Trump White House officials, Mr. Trump's first White House counsel, Don McGahn his first chief of staff, Reince Priebus, and his 2016 campaign chairman and White House chief strategist, Steve Bannon, and he served as a board member of the Fox corporation, operator of the right wing Republican aligned Fox News Channel, since 2021. The source told the Independent that Mr. M her's legal team has not been particularly communicative with the Democrats on the panel during the run up to the former counsel's testimony, combined with Mr. M her's decision to seek advice preparing him for testimony from the Trump era DOJ spokesperson Sarah Isgar, the source said. Mr. Hur's appearance has Democrats alarmed. Ms. Isger, who headed the department's Office of Public affairs under Jeff Sessions and advised then deputy attorney Rod Rosenstein during the Mueller investigation, left the department during the final years of the Trump administration and has since been attempting to reinvent herself as a journalist.

Oh boy.

So all of these just complete and total assholes. And as you know, Andy McCabe broke some news on the jackpodcast a few weeks ago that Robert Hurr was instrumental in hurrying up the firing of McCabe so that he could be, um, deprived of his retirement benefits. Andy McCabe sued and good, good.

All right, last in this segment is from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Today, the Department of Veterans affairs announced that it will soon be able to provide IVF to eligible unmarried veterans and eligible veterans in same sex marriages. This is awesome. VA will also be able to provide IVF to veterans using donated sperm or eggs, a critical step toward helping veterans who are not able to produce their own sperm or eggs due to service connected injuries and health conditions. This makes total sense to me. Under existing law, all veterans who receive IVF from VA must be unable to procreate without the use of fertility treatment due to a health condition caused by their military service. Before today's expansion of care, VA was only allowed to provide IVF services to veterans who were legally married and within that relationship, able to produce their own gametes. That's a fun word for both egg and sperm. Under this expansion of care, VA will offer IVF benefits to qualify veterans regardless of marital status, and for the first time allow the use of donor eggs, sperm and embryos. This is huge. VA is taking immediate steps to implement this policy and expects to be ready to deliver this care to veterans nationwide in the coming weeks and then hopefully deliver babies about ten months later. Quote, raising a family is a wonderful thing, and I'm proud that VA will soon help more veterans have that opportunity. That's what the VA secretary, Dennis McDonough said went on to say, this expansion of care has long been a priority for us, and we are working urgently to make sure that eligible unmarried veterans, veterans in same sex marriages, and veterans who need donors will have access to IVF in every part of the country as soon as possible. All veterans enrolled in VA healthcare are eligible for a wide range of reproductive health services at VA, including maternity care, gynecological care, access to contraceptives, cervical cancer screening, menopause care. That's a big fucking deal, and a lot more. All enrolled veterans are also eligible for fertility evaluation, management, and select treatment for fertility conditions. The VA also covered up to 2000 for adoption expenses for veterans who have a service connected disability that causes infertility. Under current law, however, VA is not authorized to cover surrogacy for any veterans. VA has advocated for this IVF expansion for years, including submitting repeated legislative proposals to expand IVF services at VA. So this is fantastic. I'm glad that this is happening. Yeah.

VA stepping in. President Joe Biden's administration stepping in where Republicans are pulling our rights. Um, they, the Pentagon now pays for travel, uh, for abortion care, and grants leave for reproductive health care. Thank you very much, um, for that. I wrote an op ed about that. As soon as the Dobbs decision leaked, they expanded their, uh, abortion care and abortion access for veterans at the VA and at federal facilities. And now they're expanding their IVF program, too. All in response, I'm sure, to the restrictions that are put on these, uh, reproductive health care programs by Republicans. So thank you very much to the VA. Thank you to Joe Biden. We have a lot of good news to get to, but we have to take a quick break. So everybody stick around.

We'll be right back after these messages.

We'll be right back. Hey, everybody. Welcome back. It's time for the good news likes.

Good news, everyone.

Then good news, everyone. And if you have any good news confessions, corrections, you want to play what the fark is in your arc, which includes what the mut kept me, if you can, what the hell is in that shell? What's the model of your oxalotl? Uh, what were some of the other ones? Oh, opine on the bovine. What the heck? Wine anyway, send us an animal photo, and we'll guess what it is. Uh, even if it's just what the animal is.

Yeah. Is that hair or fur? We could also do that one.

This animal looks like it is white with black spots. Correct. You are 100% correct.

What kind of dog is that? I'm going to say a dalmatian. Keep going.

That is a canine. That is a cow, Dana. Um.

Oh, okay. Totally. Of course it's a cow.

Oh, yes, I was. What the mudding when I should have been opining on the bovine. We also really love to hear your stories about VA healthcare, especially now that they have IVF expansion. That's incredible. Um, any of your student debt relief stories, shout outs to yourself, your partner, your loved ones, small, um, businesses in your area? If you don't have pod pet tax to pay, you can send us an adoptable pet in your area, and we'll see if we can find a forever home for them. Uh, anyway, ah, send us whatever you like. Baby pictures, frog orgy. Send it to dailybeanspod.com and click on contact. That's where you go to submit your good news. All right, first up. What was that? Nah, nah. First up, Mike from Jersey. No pronouns given. I love the beans. And listen every morning from the Garden State. One tiny correction to your correction. Our disgraced senator gold bar Bob Menendez is not running for reelection this year. He has not announced a reelection campaign and has not been campaigning as Andy Kim, first lady. Murphy and others have. So Murphy and Kim are basically running against each other in the upcoming primary. Kim is more popular, but Murphy is the party favorite and has nepotism, billionaire advantages, being the lame duck governor's wife and all. Here's a photo of me with my favorite candidate. Did I mention how, uh, wonderful Ag and DG are? Look at this. Look at Mike from Jersey with Andy Kim.

I love it.

That's so great. Thank you for that. That's right, the seat is vacant, or so far. Appreciate that.

Thank you very much. This one is from Donna Pronoun. She and her. Hello, Ag and DG. I noticed recently that you've started asking for happy place pictures, so I thought I'd send you a photo of mine. Sharing this also makes it a nonprofit shout out. You see, one of my happy places is the beach at the Newport Aquatics center, the NAC in Newport Beach, California. The NAC is a nonprofit corporation offering the public the opportunity to learn water sports, including rowing, canoeing, kayaking, dragon boating, stand up paddling, and outrigger canoeing. The facility welcomes athletes in the athletic minded of most ages and abilities, from high school and collegiate level teams, to world class and olympic level athletes, to weekend warriors who just like to stay fit and compete at amateur level, in addition to simple enthusiasts who enjoy time on the water.

That's me.

I know that's you. Their programs also include opportunities for blind participants, and they offer life affirming opportunities for cancer patients and survivors. This place sounds fucking awesome. I fall into the, quote, older amateur level competitor, oh boy, I don't even want to know if we're the same age. Then I fall into the older amateur level competitor group and have loved the paddling lifestyle, plus inspiring friendships made along the way that being part of the NAC, uh, has enabled for twelve plus years. This makes the beach at the NAC the launching point for on the water adventures, one of my all time happy places. Check it out the next time you're in the OC when it's a gorgeous, wonderful.

That's awesome.

Yeah.

Uh, let's see.

Yeah.

Okay. Public. The opportunity to learn water sports. I love, by the way, outrigger canoeing. That's like, so fun being out on the water. All right, thank you for that. Next up is from Jeanette pronoun. She and her I have some context to add to your story about the state of the union rebuttal. That awful junior high drama club voice you hear is actually a thing. Google fundy baby voice. And check out Jess Piper's substac with that title fundy as fundamentalist daily cos has picked up on this, too. Might be a good thing to mention, um, for John Fugelsang for a Friday segment. Also check out Jenny Cohn at Toadsocial. On Twitter, she writes about elections and christian nationalism for Bucks county Beacon. There's some frightening planning going on for whichever Republican wins the White House next. That's fundy baby voice, and it plays a role in it. Yes, Jeanette, very good to point that out. Jenny Cohn is amazing. She was a special guest of ours, ah. At our live show in Seattle back in 2019. I'll be going to Seattle again, um, uh, just on my own for the Daily beans pod. Um, I think it's this July. Uh, but, uh, absolutely, uh, very frightening. And the fundy baby voice. I love Jess Piper's Twitter and I love her substac. So everybody check that out.

All right, thank you, ag. This is from Nathan. Pronouns he and him. I know. Oh, my goodness. Hello, beans queens. I want to give a shout out to my amazing son eon for passing his yellow belt test in taekwondo, especially because he had to be hospitalized the week before the test due to complications from the flu. Gosh, I'm glad he's okay. I also want to share a shit kid's say on him. When he was younger, his musical tastes were limited and repetitive, primarily the imperial march from Star wars. While I dutifully played the request, sometimes I would absentmindedly begin humming along and he would turn to me and yell, stop listening.

Oh my gosh, stop listening. Mom.

Here are pictures of Lane as a baby and one of yellow belt lane. Look how tiny he was. And now a yellow belt master. Congratulations.

Okay, this is incredible because this tiny baby picture is with a big, plushy nemo on, like a blue fur ocean blanket, and it's adorable. And then look at that yellow belt. Congratulations. All right, next up from Yank in Cambridge. No pronouns. I'm a longtime resident of Cambridge, UK and a member of Democrats abroad UK. Awesome. This past Tuesday, March 5, Dauk ran voting centers in Cambridge, Oxford, London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh as part of the global presidential primary. There were over 100 Democrats abroad voting centers around the world. Voting and participation in this process is the most american thing I've done while living abroad. Thanks for your outreach and keep up the great work. And here's the Democrats abroad studying abroad need a hand with voting? And it's Wednesday with the thing. We can help. Two easy ways to get your ballot. Um, and that's go to students votefromabroad.org and, um, we'll have a link to that, I think, in the show notes. So thank you for and awesome, awesome job. Good work. Thank you.

Absolutely. This is Eliza pronouns she and her writing in to shout out my wife Jane for her support and care during our IVF journey. My wife and longtime beans listener Jane, who introduced me to the beans last year and ever since, I've enjoyed actually understanding the Daily news in an accessible way. This is an IVF celebration story. I am 15 weeks pregnant with our first child. After many years of struggling to conceive. My wife Jane has been such a constant source of support in all things between the physically demanding procedures, vulnerability, and grief. As we hoped and waited throughout the financial struggles, uh, that will continue as a result of our efforts and so much more. Through all of it, she has been a steady and reassuring partner. In the middle of a years long process. We have other embryos and we hope to use one day. And our hearts go out to any couple who knows what it means to go through this process, in this uncertain days of fertility care, Jane made it the point that IVF is a way that the LGBTQ plus families like ours are able to become mothers and parents. As we celebrate expecting our child, we grieve for families who are medically displaced. We are so thankful for our medical care team at Duke Fertility. Shout out to their incredible work. IVF makes families like our dreams of becoming parents come true. I cannot wait to be a mother alongside the person I admire most in the world. Jane has such a big heart and is an incredible cook and is always patient and grounded. Shout out to Jane. Shout out to IVF patients and their care teams. And shout out to the beans listeners for helping us remember this fight is not over, and we are not alone. Attached photos are pet tax, our dog Rosie, from our church's blessing of the pets this year, and Jane, one of our many visits to Duke fertility and our sonogram from just a few weeks ago. Oh, my God, you guys. Congratulations. You are a beautiful couple.

Jane and Eliza.

Uh, I love it.

And the beautiful Rosie.

Oh, uh, I'm so happy to hear this. I can't wait till we get pictures of this new bean. I know.

Is Rosie named after Rosie the riveter? The church blessing of the pets. That's awesome as well.

So good.

Thank you for that submission. Next up, from Amy pronoun, she and her. Hi, Beanie babies. I have a great news story. My son turns five on Friday. Why is that great news? I'm so glad you asked. When I was 31, I found out that I was unlikely, uh, to ever have children as I had ovarian failure, and my body was essentially in menopause. It was devastating. Eventually, my husband and I decided to adopt. And after an excruciating wait, our daughter was finally born. Adoption was expensive, and it took many years. I was almost 40 when we finally got her. Her birth mother, who is so dear to all of us, wanted me to be there for our daughter's birth because she knew it would likely be as close as I would to ever get to that part of motherhood. Our family did not feel complete, but we didn't know if we had it in us to do the adoption process again. Then after I gave a presentation at a meeting, a woman came up to me. Part of what I said was that I had been a mother who did not have a child. She asked if I had heard of embryo adoption. I was stunned. I had been curious about it for a bit and had been doing a little bit of research. Essentially, it's a donation of remaining embryos. After a person or couple has been through the IVF process and whose family is now complete, the remaining embryos may be given to someone else, who can then try to carry them to term. And though my ovaries had shut down at 30, some testing showed my uterus was just fine. And some more testing and some shots and appointments and honestly, a skeptical doctor. And boom. At 44, I was pregnant. I am the mom of two because of the selfless acts of other women, and I will never not appreciate that. So my miracle is the result of medical intervention and divine intervention having us cross paths. And now I'll be 50 this year, just like Ag. And I'm so grateful for having a ten year old daughter and a five year old son. My family is a testament to the importance of reproductive care given to women. So happy birthday, George. For tax, here's a baby picture of George. Look at him. And a recent one as well. Somehow, despite the lack of biological connection, my daughter looks like me, and he looks just like his dad. Go figure.

I love that George was so cute. And I bet he's even more adorable now.

Those eyebrows are killing me.

He's so expressive.

He's like, whoa, he's got his little purple toy car. Oh, what a great story, Amy. Thank you. I got choked up there at the end.
